Probably next Saturday at Moorhead and then Dec. 12 against Woodbury.JR. wrote:When is the bears' first real test?
All four lines looked pretty good (4th line was only in during the 3rd period).wbl92 wrote:No scoring from their talented sophmores? How did the new boys look?
Birkenbine looked a step quicker than when I saw him last year in bantams. Both he and Wahlin looked and played well last night.wbl92 wrote:No scoring from their talented sophmores? How did the new boys look?

Pretty much all Bears after that. The top two lines are going to score some goals. The surprise for me was the play of the third line(Slator,Hauswirth,Lennertson) which scored twice and had several other chances.
Sager needs to reel in Collette and his throwing the puck up the ice. For every opportunity he created there were 2 scoring chances he created for the Century.
Those should be tough games. Good test for White Bear to see how they stack up against good competition. The Bears should have a talented team this year.wbmd wrote:Probably next Saturday at Moorhead and then Dec. 12 against Woodbury.JR. wrote:When is the bears' first real test?
Pretty sure he didn't play last nightSEMNHOCKEYFAN wrote:I hear century doesnt have joe faupel for the 1st part of the year......any hear otherwise i just know that its a rumor?
OK I will mention it now. Collette was solid and the only goal he gave up was a PP goal on a goal mouth scramble. I thought his best save was a the end of the 1st period. I stand by the other part. It will bite them in the butt before the season is over.PB1 wrote:The Bears had a great game, including Collette. Collette had one errand pass that created a scoring opportunity. That's it. Other than that, there were no other chances created. I'll take that compared to the numerous breakouts he created, puck icings during Rocheter power plays, and chances created for odd man rushes. Collette is one of best goalie puckhandlers in HS hockey.SEC Scotty wrote:Bears came out strong in the first and then had problems with Century's strong forecheck the rest of the period with Century having the better of the play late in the first.

What you fail to mention is that Collette turned back 18 of 19 shots. The score was not indicative of the shot count. The bears were solid, including Collette.
Yes he played and he looked a lot like he was in Bantams. Talented and undiciplined.Iceburg wrote:Pretty sure he didn't play last nightSEMNHOCKEYFAN wrote:I hear century doesnt have joe faupel for the 1st part of the year......any hear otherwise i just know that its a rumor?
Their lack of scoring wasn't really indicative of how they played. I thought they looked better than the third line which scored two goals, so I would expect the results to come.SEC Scotty wrote:Birkenbine looked a step quicker than when I saw him last year in bantams. He is a great puck handler, and I thought he was very fun to watch in the game on Saturday, but I could see your point about how that could come back to haunt him. He created some really good opportunities for his offense, but it will be tougher to pull off against a more talented opponent.SEC Scotty wrote:OK I will mention it now. The first period was close, but once Hoffman took it coast-to-coast and scored in the second, it was all WBL after that.wblsuperfan alumni wrote:i thought owen was solid throughout the game, just as expected. the rest of the team turned it on in the second and third after an ugly first period. i was also very impressed by swanson, he is gonna do a lot this year.
