Rematch of a last season opener with BSM winning 4-2. Student, Zierke and Bergland all had 3pts in the win.

Stillwater returns 3 of the top 4 scorers from last season and both Varsity goalies. Look for Stillwater to play better as a team rather then 5 individuals just skating together.

Stillwater 4 - BSM 1

So far it looks as though everyone disagrees with your opinion on the outcome. Don't know much about Stillwater, but I wish them luck.

I guess thats why they still play the games, as no one is able to pick every game winner, every time. Or maybe the only people on here right now are BSM fans?????

Benilde is a very good team but people shouldn't doubt Stillwater. They destroyed Hermantown 5-1. Also, they tied Cathedral, Marshall and Mahtomedi and my source says they should have been 3-1-0 but they had 3 games in a 6 hour span.

Destroyed?

BSM may be slightly overrated and Stillwater gets little, if any, attention paid, but I think "destroyed" is overstating the Hermantown win for Stillwater. I believe the score was actually 4-1, and it was a very physical game. Stillwater looked better than I expected, but they have plenty of work ahead of them to make any serious post-season push. The Marshall game did have a flukey goal, where the Marshall center flicked one in right-off their OZ face-off for the game-tying goal, but that was about it. Also, keep in mind these were 1 hr "scrimmages" without PP & PK. Additionally, I believe all teams played 3 games on Sat, so it's not like they had a bigger mountain to climb than anyone else.

I wish the best of luck to both teams, and it should be a good one.

Ponies 6 - Red Knights 2

BSM was very undisciplined took a few stupid penalties. Stillwater only converted on 1 of 6, BSM was 0-2. Shots were even at about 18-20 each.

What do you want it to be? Maybe the Stillwater student section was right..............Over-rated. I think BSM took Stillwater too lightly when things started going bad they took stupid penalties that hurt. #20 took a boarding penalty what should have been a check from behind only to come back out and take a real check from behind a few shifts later. Really liked #25 and #18 both big, strong players.

Cotter in nets for Stillwater played very well.
