Not sure, but any team who manages to lose to Mahtomedi is not as good as Breck was claimed to be. Don't get me wrong, Mahtomedi puts quality teams on the ice, but they don't put amazing teams on the ice.
On the flip side this could be just like what happened to AHA two years ago losing to Burnsville. One of the best hockey teams in our recent history, goalie got hot and they lost. Based on the shots Breck handled Mahtomedi pretty well, puck just wasn't going in.

Mahtomedhi didn't have a wealth of individual talent, and they had a very short roster with a lot of kids playing both jv and varsity, but they were coached well. Of course, Ben Marshall was great and seems to give the team a lot of confidence, but the goalie was very impressive also.
The rest of the kids really played with heart. The coach seemed to get the best out of this team.

Yeah, because Mahtomedi isn't anything special.

Brad Wolhers grew up playing youth hockey in Mahtomedi until Bantams then played at Hill. Realized things were tight at Hill for playing time transferred back to Mahtomedi last year.
Good goalie in bantams he was very mobile, quick.

There was actually an old topic on him after he left his freshman year and his friends said he hated the school..but he loved the hockey program and there and made jv as a freshman and definantly would have been on the state winning team last year and been the starter this year at hill. I don't think playing time was ever an issue cause it also said that lechner loved the kid and loved how he played
He should carry the mahtomedi team this year with marshall of course

Flat,
Ugly weird game. 13 penalties in the first 30 minutes of play. The refs were calling everything. It really slowed the pace of the game. Neither team scored on any of those power play opportunities and quite honestly, neither team looked very good. The Mahtomedi goalie made some nice saves but there just weren't that many quality scoring chances. They got the first goal on a one timer power play late in the second and the D coughed up the puck at center ice and they went in and scored on a 2-0 breakaway and the last one was an empty netter.
They have Breck's number as the Mustangs have lost the last 4 to them.
