not much to know about east. varsity roster full of juniors who have played 1-2 years of varsity already but think too much of themselves

Mayo won 8-1
MANKATO -- Rochester Mayo already has proven it can win without scoring from its top line. The Spartans showed Thursday they are almost unstoppable when that top line is clicking.
Mayo's BAT line (Brad Fisher-Alex Whitney-Tom Alexander) combined for six points and senior defenseman Rick Weber (two goals, two assists) had a team-best four points in a blowout win over Mankato East.
"That line was dominant," Mayo assistant coach Dustin Hookom said. "They work so well together.
"Rick Weber played his heart out and showed why he is a captain and leader of this team."
Senior forward Brandon Buske scored the game-winning goal and collected the first two goals of his varsity career. Ten players had at least one point for Mayo.
Alexander also had two goals and one assist, while Fisher and Chris Goslee had one goal each. Whitney had two assists, while James Powers, Myles Flott, Alex Heroff and Marcus Nigbur had one each.
Mayo (2-0-0 overall, 1-0-0 Big Nine) outshot East 53-21. Jordan Yaggy picked up his second win of the season, stopping 20 shots.

I have watched the BAT line a number of times. They are second to none. Their goal scoring potential is huge. With their goaltending I doubt they will be challenged in the Big 9 or sections.

If they are really a given to get through the big nine and sections.....I'm thinking they should not have struggled that much with Champlin Park....right???....they lost 5-2

I wouldn't say they struggled against champlin park, they outshot them 37-22 or somewhere around that. Champlin Parks goalie played rediculous against Mayo. Yaggy had an off night giving up a couple week goals. However, they are missing Hoppenworth sp? and with the addition to him, it will give them more depth at D rather than having webber and otlicker sp? out there constantly every other shift. They are going into the 3rd week of the year and after watching them play roseville, I feel overall they did have a better game against champlin park just a couple of weak goals that caused the turning point of the game.

Watched the game against JM......Mayo has a very nice top line, but their 2 and 3 line were not visibly any better than JM's 3 lines. JM has improved nicely year to year and Mayo will have a good season but would be a little concerned about depth come section time....

hockeyknight- Who looked good for JM when you saw them play? Did they reload with a ncie group of sophomores ore what, because last year they were absolutely brutal and so was there JV team so they were not getting any help from them.

I also kinda noticed that in there game against JM mayos defenders were gettin a little to far up ice and wouldnt be getting back on d when jm would run up the ice.....that could cause trouble in the long run

I heard they are on their 3rd coach in 4 years. Athletic Director needs to get his PLEASE BAN ME together and give the kids a chance.
....with a stupid comment like "think too much of themselves" it's, obvious that maverickshockey33 is from West...good one

mankato east needs to stop making threads. these threads are totally pointless. everyone knows you are going to lose just about every game this season.
