Pointstreak reports a 2-0 final in favor of East.
Shots were 31-27 Greyhounds, though the gap was much larger in the first few periods; I'm guessing East sat back a bit as the game went on. Shots were 13-3 after 1, and about even in the 2nd.
Goals: Olson (Arbour, Lutzka) and McLean (Mellin, Tamasy). Both came in the 2nd period.
Looks like it was an ugly game with lots of penalties, though both teams went 0-for-6 on the power play, which neither can be happy with.
East will likely have to play better than this to beat the likes of Minnetonka and Centennial, which are looming on the schedule. I'd like to see them take it to the opposition more late in the game, although it certainly bodes well that Cooper and the East D survived the late barrage of Wayzata shots and got the shutout.

East looked good. Beyond an extended 5-3 in the third Wayzata never seemed to threaten too much. Wayzata's goalie played well and held them in the game making some very nice saves. Cooper played well for East too.

From looking at the penalty stats at pointstreak, it appeared things got a little, shall we say, contentious midway through the 3rd period, and I was wondering what was up with that.

Typical Wayzata, always starting problems and very rarely penalized. They take the philosphy, the second man is the caught man.

duluth east goalie was standing on his head in the 3rd period, wayzata had 2 5-3 opportunities with point blank shots and he stopped them all, game had a little tussle midway thru the 3rd after a scramble in front of the hounds net goalie covered it there was pushing and shoving. next whistle same thing. other than that it was a well played game with chances on both sides, game could have went either way.

Cool analysis, we can all tell you were at the game. Being someone who attended, I will tell you it was an emotional game and had a few scrums. If anything East was the chippy team.
That being said they were also the better team. Wayzata had there chances but at even strength East mostly dictated the play. I look forward to another potential matchup between these two in the Schwann cup.

LMAO!!
You're kidding..........right?
...................RIGHT?
Midway through the third, there were 5 or 6 Hounds in the box at the same time. That's a lot of "second men" being "caught."
You're not giving the refs, or Wayzata, any credit. Nice work!
