I don't know anything about Rogers... but is that an upset. It would have to be!
Probably a fun one to watch with Owatonna and Farmington going to a shoot out! A meaningful section matchup there.
I would think that Maple Grove takes the cake in this tourny and everything else that comes with it.

Refs did not call anything on Rogers until about 10 minutes left in the third. They would go into corners and throw punches and elbows and Stillwater should have been on the pp a lot more than they were. Stillwater is a much better team, but the loss shows they have to come to play every game to walk out with the W.

I don't have a horse in the race but the scoresheet shows that Rogers had a rough in the first period and a high stick in the second period. Stillwater's penalties in the first 2 periods were for Holding, Unsportsmanlike Conduct, Hooking, Interference, Hooking and Crosschecking. Without seeing the game it looks like Stilllwater was playing lazy and undisciplined hockey.

Having watch these teams ...all of them are pretty even except Winona. I do think its sweet that these low profile teams get some TV time on FSN January 1st

Have to strongly disagree with you on that one!!! After watching the Maple Grove vs Mahtomedi game tonight I believe both of these teams deserved to be there. Its to bad that this game wasn't televised tonight!!! For those of us who were there sure got rewarded by seeing a great game.
Mahtomedi won in a shootout 4 to 3...
That Benny Marshall is one special player!!! I can't wait to see him in Maroon & Gold!!!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but having watched all these teams I still think Stillwater and Orono (Consolation Championship) can play with Mahtomedi and Owatonna (Championship Game).

Orono and Stillwater can certainly play with these teams. Orono plays Owatonna on Saturday - so we'll see. Not sure how Winona got into this tournament. I heard Persian had a short handed hat trick - 6 or 7 points for the game. No box score in the paper though and I wasn't at the game.

Stillwater stumbled and fumbled against Rogers, made Rogers look much better then they are.

Normally I don't complain about reffing in a game, but the calls that were made during the Maple Grove/Mahodemdi game were unbelievable. Waiving off a goal clearly in the net put it over the top.

RushnCircles you have no idea what you are talking about. I was at the game and Stillwater dominated the whole game because they were constantly pressuring Farmington in their own zone. It was total domination and there is no doubt in my mind Stillwater should be playing at the X tomorrow. They might as well not put the Bronze game on tv anymore because its going to be a slaughter.

I'm looking forward to a great Bronze Championship game. I would make Mahtomedi a slight favorite over Owatonna, but unless the goalie for one team plays poorly it will not be a slaughter. Both these teams could be playing at the X in March JMO

Mahtomedi 5 Owatonna 4
*That Marshall kid is green, but he can fly with good hands. Mahtomedi just had a couple of speedsters that Owatonna couldn't handle. I thought Owatonna was gritty, but just had WAY too many turnovers. I think once Coach Fish see's the tape he will stress to his top players to PASS the puck. They held the puck WAY too long which is suicide against a quick team like Mahtomedi. Mahtomedi was the better team, but take away those stupid turnovers and we might have seen an upset today. JMO
