Is this really considered a big game? Warroad will have no problem wiping up the ice with the Green Wave. I predict a shutout for Warroad.

Even though they're the underdog I'm sure EGF thinks it's a big game.

Not much time to take a breath for some teams after the ABRA Invitational. More excellent matchups!

With the Warroad-East Grand Forks score now in, the Tuesday game results have been updated in the first post. Two of these results would have to be called upsets: Eastview's win over Duluth and Henry Sibley knocking off SSP (for the first time since 1999).
Any thoughts on Thursday's games?
Blaine (15AA) vs. Cloquet/Esko/Carlton (n/r LPH)
Moundsview (18AA) vs. Champlin Park (n/r LPH)
Using KRACH rankings:
Blaine (21AA) vs. Cloquet/Esko/Carlton (19AA)
Moundsview (16AA) vs. Champlin Park (20AA)
Hutch vs West

I believe this game is going to be one of the “big” games South of the metro (1A) this season and possibly a pre-cursor to the 2A section championship. Both teams are pretty well matched.
• Both have played “big” schools and lost
• Both West and Hutch have two players scoring the majority of the points.
• Both teams are young with only 3 seniors each.
• The average grade level for Hutch is 9.9 for West it’s 9.1
• Both starting goalies are sophomores
• Avg. goal against for Hutch is 2.67, West is 3.25
Those who have played Hutch, what do you think? I’m excited to see this game the match up is awesome and it should be a barn burner.

When they played Shakopee, I didn't think they were that solid. They have a few good skaters with the Carlson sisters. Shakopee mopped them up 8-2. Haven't seen a lot of west though. Should be a good game though wtih section plans kind of on the line.

Friday night's action:
Hill-Murray (4AA) 5, South St. Paul (9A) 1
Warroad (3A) 5, Silver Bay (8A) 1
Roseau (4A) 1, Crookston (5A) 2
Proctor/Hermantown/Duluth Marshall (9AA) 2, Minnetonka (6AA) 2 OT
North Wright County (18AA) 4, Orono (11A) 2
Bemidji (11AA) 0, Elk River (n/r) 4
Minor upset tonight in Crookston beating Roseau 2-1, and perhaps a bigger surprise with unranked Elk River blanking Bemidji 4-0. North Wright County continues their winning ways and close-ranked #9AA Proctor/H/DM and #8AA Minnetonka skate to a tie as you might expect.

Predictions for Saturday might? Matchups and the latest LPH rankings are:
Warroad (3A) vs. Proctor/Hermantown/Duluth Marshall (9AA)
Mounds View (17AA) vs. Stillwater (2AA)
Maple Grove (15AA) vs. Centennial (8AA)
Mankato West (10A) vs. Hutchinson (13A)
Final West 8 Hutch 2

Not much of a game. Hutch was missing both Carlson girls and their starting goalie to injury. Near the end of the game another defenseman left via EMT’s on a stretcher, scary moment. Lower back injury.

Based on previous results I would have guessed Hutchinson would have given West a better game, but this helps to explain why this wasn't the case tonight. Hutch loses 2-8.
The other three games today were very close with the favorites/higher ranked teams all coming out on top:
Warroad (3A)
3, Proctor/Hermantown/Duluth Marshall (9AA)
1
Stillwater (2AA)
3, Mounds View (17AA)
1
Centennial (8AA)
3, Maple Grove (15AA)
2
The week's overall scores have been updated in the first post.

All thoughts go out to Hutchinson for their injured players. There is nothing more bothersome than seeing young athletes not being able to perform with their teams. Hopeful for full recovery for all. However, on the dark side, Mankato-West, Play someone in our Metro area that has a "hockey team".

Conehead; I totally agree with you better competition makes a better team however we play who the high school league dictates we play. How many metro 1A teams need to play 7th and 8th graders to field a team? How many good “Hockey Teams” does section 3A play and yet still get a ticket to state? At least we can compete with your 1A metro teams.
