Wanted to let everyone know about Quinn McGough from Red Wing. Quinn is a sophmore and plays goalie for Red Wing. She was recently diagnosed with follicular lymphoma, a rare cancer that has been only seen three times in the history of the Mayo Clinic.

Thought this would be a good thing for people to read. Hockey is a huge part of all of our lives, but something like this makes you reconsider what is really important. Quinn is an incredible young women and we all are praying for her on a safe recovery. Please keep her in your thoughts.

I'm pasting the text of the article below because with a lot of newspapers websites, the links will disappear after a few days.

Best wishes to her, her family and her teammates.

McGough's swan song

A couple hours after Red Wing sophomore goaltender Quinn McGough was diagnosed Wednesday with follicular lymphoma at the Mayo Clinic, Wingers coach Scott Haley visited her at the hospital and let McGough decide if she wanted to play in Thursday’s game against Prior Lake.
In her last two games, McGough had a combined 73 saves and a .936 save percentage. That raised her save percentage on the season to .905 and placed her in contention for All-Missota Conference accolades.
A bad game against the Lakers could have cost her the all-conference award.
Red Wing goalie Quinn McGough makes a save during the third period against Prior Lake on Thursday night at Prairie Island Arena.
"I wanted to play," McGough said. "I thought I could raise (the save percentage) up a little bit."
McGough finished with 18 saves in her final game of the season as Red Wing defeated Prior Lake 7-3 at Prairie Island Arena.
"I thought it was really brave of her to say, ‘Yes,’" sophomore defenseman Annie Gorman said of McGough’s decision.
McGough’s save percentage dropped to .902, but McGough still achieved her goal of finishing the season with a save percentage of at least .900.
"There was a lot on my mind," McGough said. "But I’m glad I played."
When her mind wandered, she didn’t think about the cancer diagnosis. Thoughts of the impending chemotherapy didn’t enter her mind. Instead, McGough thought about the first two goals she allowed.
"I couldn’t even see them," said McGough, who has a small scar in the center of her neck from a Dec. 22 biopsy.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that McGough opted to play.
McGough was not able to play or practice after the biopsy, but she watched every practice — even the 8 a.m. practices, Gorman said in amazement — from the bench and cheered for her teammates.
"Hockey’s like her life," sophomore forward Brianna Sigler said. "She loves it."
There’s more to McGough than hockey, though. According to teammates, she also possesses artistic talent and a 4.0 GPA.
"She’s probably, intellectually, one of the most intelligent kids I’ve coached," said Haley, who first coached McGough when she was in middle school.
McGough first noticed something was wrong about three months ago when she saw a lump under her chin.
She eventually went to an ear, nose and throat doctor where she was told it was just a cyst.
Her family sought a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic. It was there that was diagnosed with lymphoma.
It is still not known what stage the cancer is at.
"She’s shown remarkable resolve," Haley said. "She was very positive, almost kind of like at peace with it and I really think she’s going to keep a positive outlook. I wouldn’t bet against her. She’s gonna beat this and come back."

Thanks SouthSide for this info. How sad this is. Quinn seems like just the type of girl who will fight this and come out on top. Lots of prayers will be heading her (and her family's way).
