I was there. SSM beat MSC 5 - 1. MSC looked tired and had trouble making passes. SSM also did not have much luck with their passing. They were fast, but seemed alsmost like they were drugged. They skated with reckless abandon. But their goals were nice. Refs were definately homes, they usually are at the SSM rink.

Wow, that is bold to say that SSM looked "drugged". Maybe not as perfect a team as they have had in the past, but Zamman "drugged". Not even cool as a joke on a High school web page. I thought you were better than that.
Oh, and by the way, after so many years of wanting to say SSM has homer refs as to why they win. I would go with their past National championships and wins vs. loses records in the past 7 years as a good indicator that they can win without homer refs. Put it to rest!

No disrespect to SSM and their accomplishments, local refs can add a homer element to the games played in Faribault.

I guess to be fair than, we would have to assume there are homer refs. all over the state. NOT just in Faribault. There isn't ONE other team or community in this state that "wants" Shattuck to win anything. Everyone wants them to get beat. So to say it is because of refs. that Shattuck has an edge at home is silly. I don't think they have refs. on their staff. Not any different than a lot of home rinks around the state. It IS an advantage to play at home, that's why we have both home and away games.

Why we are we even discussing this? SSM isn't a MN High School Hockey team in my opinion they are a mercenary development team.
But to the drugged comment, why is that bad? It would mean sluggish, or really quick and dangerous skating I would think.

Fair enough. They looked like they were on speed. They skated, as I said with reckless abandon. No disrespect to them, that is just the impression I got. They are fast, but reckless. Maybe that is their style this year....

Thanks Zamman for posting this. I was wondering how the game went, and of course it wouldn't be in the paper. Are you ready for a big crowd when Shattuck plays AHA in a few weeks?

I saw the Shattuck vs. Culver game a week back. They were fast as hell and were definitely skating with "reckless abandon" - that's fun hockey to watch. They had a little goaltending trouble, had to switch in the third.

I want to see them win and I have no affiliation with SSM.

AHA plays SSM on Saturday january 31 at 2:30 in the afternoon. It will be a busy morning and afternoon at the arena, so come early. Remember to park in the legion or at Veterans Park near the shelter. The lot is clear, but fills fast.
Oh don't forget the round-about at 66th and Portland, may throw you off.

I will psot when I know about tickets selling early.
