Can the Elks follow up their win over Blaine with a win over Centennial and giving them a realistic shot at 2nd in the conference?

On paper, Centennial should win! But games aren't played on paper. If they were, Centennial should be 16-2-2. With the two loses to Edina and Hill Murray and ties with Blaine and East. Centennial can be very dominant. And they can be very inconsistant. In the past, these two team don't like each other. I would think after a tough loss at home to Maple Grove they will have everything in high gear! But I also thought Edina would have done that against Centennial after they had a tough loss. So who knows? Of couse Larsen had his game of the season against Edina! So with that said, I'll take Centennial in a close one. Let's say 5-4. But I wouldn't be shocked at all if the Elks win this. It all depends which Cougar team show up and if they are consistant the whole game.

The only comment I would make about your post, DoubleDeuce, is that if the game were played on paper Centennial would've crushed the sloppy WBL and their next two opponents would've been different.

Well yeah, we now know that Elk River has its first quality win of the season....How did we not all see it coming?! Centennial's the better team, they will be ready for this game and will not be upset twice in a row.

Cougars 4

Elks 2

I think Centennial will win this game against ER, but the Elks were WAY better than what i expected against Blaine. The cougars can expect Elk River to bring everything they have to this game.

3-2 Cougars, final goal will be scored in the closing minutes of the 3rd period

Cougars will win, 5-3.

But I am pulling for the Elks, I dont know why I just have a soft spot for Elk River.

That's pretty much what I said. That their two "paper" loses should have been Edina and Hill Murray not White Bear Lake and Maple Grove.

Got to go with my Cougars on this one. There's no doubt that this weekends loss to MG will motivate this team to take the Elks seriously.

Centennial wins 4-2

Also remember Pitlick wasn't playing, their leading scorer, 50 pts...amazing for the teams that they play....
If they crash the net and get physical....cougars will prevail...

Ok Talkofthetown, I'm an Elk River guy, let's not get to carried away. Centennial will be bringing their game. Don't give them anything to pin up in the locker room.

OK, maybe I fell for it....but I have to ask. Do teams really take posts from here and pin them in the locker room?

If it were played on paper, you wouldn't have any stupid comments/questions to post.

And no, teams don't literally post things in the locker room. But word does get around...

thats why i said pitlick is better then bjugstad but elk river is going to have a gameplan to stop pitlick they are not just going to let him do anything i mean regardless of how elk river teams are year in and year out they always have great deffense they just need to put up some goals and hopefully they can pull out a big win it all comes down to who wants it more in this rivalry and lets not forget both teams have outstanding young goalies

As a Duluth East fan, I'm very scared of Elk River come section time. They are playing better and better, and even though they have a few losses, the Elks haven't been blown out this year. I think they will continue to play well down the stretch.

Elk River 4
Centennial 3

Id rather have Bjugstad on my team than pitlick...

just my opinion.

After watching Elk River barely squeak by Osseo in overtime the other night it makes me wonder just how much it took out of this team to beat Blaine. From what I hear Elk Rivers big studs Cj, Hennum and Levi were on the ice constantly during the Blaine game. It was obvious that their legs were dead during this game.

Honestly I'd love to see Elk River win tonight but I just don't see it happening. I believe that Centennial has more talent/depth than Blaine's team especially with the Pitlick, Hess and Lovick line. If Pitlick decides to play tonight I don't see the Elks having an answer.

Besides that the Elks will need to play all three lines if they plan on beating this team.

The only way I see Elk River winning is if the Cougars spend to much time in the penalty box. Having this game in Elk Rivers barn is another big plus as well. Hopefully the fans will pack this place tonight.

But I'm still picking Centennial to win 4-3

I agree with you 100% but i just think pitlick is still a bit more skilled but i see bjugstad being a much better player soon also think he is a better players to play with as a teamate

Elk River has a very good shot winning this game. I saw them twice this year against Maple Grove. They were a different team the 2nd time around. I also saw the Cougars twice against Maple Grove. They didn't look that great the 2nd time around. They were way too over confident. I've heard the Elk River coach is one of the best in high school hockey. Real tough on the players, but gets the most out of them. 2-2 tie...
