I mean hats off to the kid, hes taught to score, i have no problem with that, but leaving a kid out there to the point where he can score 7 times?

Sure there's some stat games on everyone's schedule, but the consistency of competition dictates their numbers. Put Anders Lee or Danny Matson up against the teams that Benik or Hanowski have played on a consistent basis and they might score 100. It's all relative and the "scoring record" should come with an asterik.
Again, I realize neither team has a very good record, and he'd never score that many with the team he's on playing against a top AA or even A team. It doesn't mean that he's still not a talented player. The team he's on has 4 wins now. I've seen him play and if you put him on a team with more good players he'd be capable of scoring against anybody. I've never seen him or Hanowski or even Unzen ever say they thought themselves that great. As far as Hanowski, he chose the Huskies over the Gophers,so I don't think that exactly puts him in the slouch category. A kid scoring 7 goals is still a noteworthy feat unless you have a very good team playing a very bad team and they're trying to run up the score. East has hardly been able to keep teams under 6 goals most of the season, so they needed every goal they could get. It has been 58 years since someone scored 7 goals in a game. Obviously, there have been ample opportunities in that time frame for it to happen. Say what you will, but every team has at least one of these lower-tier teams on their schedules and nobody has matched this feat until this year. Even Duluth East has Duluth Central on their schedule every year, so the chances are there for these other guys to get their shot against the weaker teams... Bottom line is Billiar, Hanowski, and Unzen did it, the others did not - and in Unzen and Billiar's case, they did it against teams that their team is generally competetive with.GR3343 wrote:Sad when people think they're great when they score against sub par opponents. Moose lake scored several ties in state records in the game versus Ely on Saturday February 14. (according to the Minnesota State High school League)rudy wrote:anyone know the state record?
