Hows do the playoff brackets work? Being there are 11 teams in this section. Does the 11th place team get a chance or are they just out? I know that we have talked about the 7th and 8th seeded teams having to have a play in games. Does anyone know what is the real deal is?

Thanks

they will have the first round games be:
6 vs 11
7 vs 10
8 vs 9

then they will have the winners move on to the quarterfinals.

It is just a money maker at this point.

Crown 'em, Warroad to the X.

It might get more interesting there.

I wouldn't crown warroad just yet....Even though they are defending section champs and are traditionally strong there's a team a bit to the south of warroad that is hungry for redemption

Not gunna happen.

Yes, I do, but you have to pay for those answers.

And we have an 8A thread already.

So lighten up and enjoy life, Francis.

Yes, TRF has a chance if Gothberg can stop 34 of the 35 shots he will face and Dillon can get a step on Pieper and get off a quick, accurate shot.

Now, are you happy, that I keyboarded what everyone knows.

Dillon needs two or three quality chances.
Gothberg has to do what he has not done agaisnt Warroad, ever.

So Elliott, is that how you understand the play-in games. The 6th, 7th and 8th teams have to play in?

Yes, that is exactly how it works.
Not much chance for the play-in teams at 9, 10 & 11.
Walker and Bagley are not capable.
If Hallock can catch a goalie on a very bad night. But not going to happen.

Warraod
TRF
Bemidji
EGF or maybe Crookston
Park Rapids
LOW
Red Lake Falls

Hallock against Red Lake Falls, could happen but not much hope.
Bagley - Walker with LOW and Crookston - best bet is to try and keep it out of running time.

RLF vs Warroad - phone it in.
TRF against #7 maybe LOW - LOW will make it a game for awhile but not for 3 periods.

Bemidji vs Park Rapids - no love lost between these two.
Bemidji
Crookston and EGF - either way.

Bemidji vs TRF
They say it is hard to beat a team 3 times in a year.
It will be good, but Gothberg will hold them.

Crookston - EGF vs Warroad
Exciting unitl #3 for Warroad gets a little space.

TRF - Warroad
Decent game but Warroad has decent goaltending and real good D and two lines that can score quickly and one that does not let you get shots.

I would love to watch Warroad vs Little Falls or Intl Falls for the championship.

[quote]Gothberg has to do what he has not done agaisnt Warroad, ever.

How has Gothberg never done well against Warroad?...Did you not go or hear about the 2008 section semi final game where a much less stronger TRF team went to double OT with Zane having over 50 saves? The last goal he gave up went off a skate. The score was 3-2. How is that not having a good game? Granted TRF didn't win but they were a far less experienced team with practically 2 seniors that played.

He gave up 3 goals.
Not a question of having a good or even great game.
He has to have the extreme game.
And as you said, it was a loss.
And as we have seen Warroad is better this year with a very strong contingent of seniors, 12 I believe.

I'd like to tell you TRF is going to win, but I just don't see it happening.

But keep the hope up.

I had to jump in and correct the record on that Semi-Final game last year Warroad vs. TRF. It was actually a 2-1 game in 2 overtimes. Gothberg had as I recall about 50 saves and the winning goal was a deflection off of a TRF Skate. It was a great game by Zane. I have to agree that it is a long shot this year for TRF to upset Warroad they seem to have TRF's number this year the same way TRF seems to have Bemidji's number. Can either upset happen. You Bet!

I just don't see anyone beating Warroad in The Gardens. In Thief or East Grand, possibly, but not in Warroad.

There's no doubt it will be hard to upset Warroad at home. Does anyone know the seeding yet? After 1.Warroad and 2. TRF it's kind of a mess

This also show's that Warroads goalie has been covered by a strong D...I wonder what he'd be like when a team can get over 25 shots on him

Know one knows, but i don't think it would be good for Warroad. I just hope that the warriors D plays well through the end of the year

IF everything goes to plan for Warroad, STA, Little Falls, SCC, and Breck, does Warroad get seeded at state? Or will they be left out because of their loss to SCC? I'm thinking that just being Warroad will get them into the top 4. I know I'm getting ahead of myself but I personally think Breck should be the odd team out. Thoughts?
