When do the 7A coaches seed this week?

My guess right now

1. Hibbing/Virginia winner
2. Hibbing/Virginia loser
3. Int. Falls
4. Duluth Marshall
5. Duluth Central
6. Greenway
7. Silver Bay
8. Ely
9. Eveleth-Gilbert
10. Two Harbors

Looks good, the bottom 5 may have arguments for something different and Marshall may not want #4 but other than las tchnge it is not going to make any difference.

Central and Greenway will pay someone close in the quarters but not that close.

After that soemone needs two quality games form everyone.

And then they have to hope for a decent draw to catch Hermantown/Cathedral or Breck.

Little Falls, STA and Warroad should have 1,2,3 in some order at the X.

Seeding Meetings are Wednesday. So of course the Hibbing vs. Virginia game will have some impact on the way the seedings come out. I could also see Marshall being 3rd if they present a good argument. Falls has 3 losses to Marshall's 2. That Greenway loss could really hurt the Broncos.

The meeting is Wednesday morning.

The only change I would make is at 7 & 8 because Ely just beat Silver Bay last weekend. Otherwise, that is exactly how I think it stands as of now. Could shuffle around the bottom pending two other games.

7A Games Remaining:
Ely @ Two Harbors (Tonight)
Greenway @ Eveleth(Tuesday)
Hibbing @ Virginia (Tuesday)

I can't see Marshall getting anything but #4. Falls has wins over both Hibbing and Virginia -- Marshall is 0-2 against them and will be penalized for not scheduling more section games (ie. I Falls). Plus I Falls redeemed themselves in the rematch with Greenway by holding the Raiders to 5 shots on goal in a 6-0 rout -- that, along with the shot totals in the first game and Greenway's similar results with Virginia and Hibbing in a couple of close games will by far outweigh any argument Marshall can put together.

The only way I could possibly foresee a #3 seed for Marshall would be if someone succesfully manipulates things to avoid a semifinal game with them. They won't get it on their own merit - they will not get the benefit of the doubt from the other coaches.

Good point, The IRC coaches are no way voting for Marshall but I think there is a slim to none chance that they squeak in there and possibly, maybe get the 3 seed. I think Falls is a better team as of right now. And could you see Hibbing still ending up #1 even if they lose to Virginia? It could happen being they would have 2 losses but common opponents would most likely be in Virginia's favor with wins or Grand Rapids and Albert Lea.

Int. Falls is 1-1 against both Virginia and Hibbing this year. Their losses were by bigger margins to both teams than their wins were. Hibbing beat Virginia the first time 4-2, so unless Virginia wins by more than 2 goals, I'd say the top three are Hibbing, Virginia, Int. Falls, in that order.

Int. Falls and Marshall playing is one team's fault just as much as the other's.

Margin of victory isn't that much of a factor - that's why teams pull goalies - losing by one or two is not that much different than losing by two or three. If it were, they would play a two-game total goals series like college hockey used to do. If Hibbing loses on Tuesday they will be #2 based on their overall record and results with common opponents - not to mention the game will be fresh on the minds of all of the coaches being that its the night before the meeting. Virginia holds every advantage other than head-to-head, which they would equal with a win.

You don't know the history of some of the IRC teams and Marshall... Believe me, its one sided in this instance.
