If true, not a shock at all. Jefferson can easily argue that they only had one loss to Edina's 4 and you really don't know how Jefferson would do against those stronger opponents that Edina lost to. Edina could certainly argue strength of schedule but it isn't a surprise that Jefferson would still get the nod. I think the Tonka loss by Edina which was broadcast on TV really hurt them or they'd have gotten the #1 seed with only the 3 losses. They were being seen statewide and didn't look sharp that game.

I think Jefferson deserves it, Edina has 3 losses in the past 9 games, I don't think that can be ignored.

Now that we know the seedings we can make our predictions:

Jefferson over Shakopee
Burnsville over Chaska
AHA over Kennedy
Edina over Prior Lake

Round 2
I am calling this: Burnsville over Jefferson
AHA over Edina

Finals
AHA over Burnsville.

These are my guesses, challenge them if you want, but we all make guesses.

I for one can't see Burnsville beating Jefferson but who knows last year I never saw clouquet beating Duluth East, as for AHA beating Edina I wouldn't be suprised to see that happen.

It would shock me. Zamman if you are right, I am having you make my March Madness bracket for me.

AHA beating Edina would not surprise me at all, should be a very good game to watch. However, I do not think that Burnsville will be capable of an upset against Jefferson, not after last year. A Holy Angels-Jefferson game would be very good game and would draw a huge crowd.

I'll that i know for sure is..No private school will be coming out of section 2AA.

March Madness is 65 teams and a lot of guessing. In this section there are 8 teams so the guessing is less, but I must guess with the team that means the most to me. Although I truely feel that AHA can come out on top of this section. I think that an AHA / Jefferson game would be a fun game. But Edina will be tough enough. I am feeling very confident about AHA / Edina. Both teams are good and AHA seems to always play the better teams well. The last time that AHA played Edina, Edina had the upper hand because they were playing real well and AHA was not even playing as a team yet, but I feel that Trebil has his team playing very good and I think he has his lines down and they have two real good lines and one solid line. The D is strong top to bottom and the goaltending is strong. Any way the game will be fun and I will be there rooting loud as I usually am.

I will be disappointed if we do not see the Jefferson Edina match-up for the ship

Can only happen in the Section 'ship! Would be a great game. I don't think AHA can do it. My money is on Jefferson or Edina, and I think Edina will take it. Those seniors have been waiting too long for it. They will want to win it for Budish I bet! Jefferson is strong though. It will be an exciting week.

I'm not surprised well deserved by the Jags this year.

Edina, Jefferson, AHA, Chaska winners

Edina, Jefferson, I know not much fun there

Edina to state, those kids won't fail in getting there as seniors

And I agree with any of the above mentioned scenarios. But here is why I am picking Edina to prevail. Experience. Big game experience. The section championship game is probably the most intense and most overwhelming environment for High School players.

Correct me if I am wrong but does Jefferson have any players with Section final experience? Here is Edina's section final and state experience numbers...

Anders Lee 4 section finals and 12 state xcel arena games.
Marshall Everson 2 section finals and 4 state xcel arena games.
Connor Gaarder 2 section finals and 4 state xcel arena games.
Brendan Baker 2 section finals and 4 state xcel arena games.
Patrick Regan 2 section finals and 4 state xcel arena ames.
Max Everson 1 section final and 3 state xcel arena games.
David Jarrett 1 section final and 3 state xcel arena games.
John Eppel 1 section final and 3 state xcel arena games.
Charlie Taft 1 section finals and 3 state xcel arena games.
Andy Jorgenson 1 section and 3 state xcel arena games.

16 total section finals & 43 State Tournament games at the X. The question is how much is that experience worth in front of a full house at Mariucci?
:-k

Tooshay, Edina does have some seniors and alot og big game experience. With that said though, Burnsville last year had some pretty good seniors (Hendrickson, Barnes to name a few) with big game experience and a group of junior studs (Edina) beat them to advance to State.

Well....Edina has the senior leadership and talent just like B'ville did last year and Jefferson has there group of junior studs that just might be able to advance to state.... Idk, just something i thought i'd thrown in here

Also, Edina had big game experience and i wont deny that but i will also argue that although these kids on the Jefferson have experience too. Although they haven't been to state (yet), they have big game experience because alot of the kids on this team wrre on the team last year that lost to b'ville in ot in the semis and this team just spent a good portion of the year with the #1 spot, as if any team needed extra motivation to beat a bloomington jefferson team

hmm

I can't be the only one who's dissapointed that Holy Angels, Jefferson, and Edina are all in the same section. Because this section is so tough, I don't think the winner of it will have enough gas left to win state. With that said, Holy Angels has no chance to win this section. I watched them play this year several times, and they are less than impressive with one obvious exception.

My pick for AA is Eden Prairie or Blaine. Both playing extremely well, EP beat Jefferson, and they have easier sections than 2AA.

A - Breck. Look at their section. they basically have a free shot to the tournament. Being the best team in Class A helps as well. :)

Oh, that was off topic. I'd love to see the Jefferson and Edina match up. And it will happen. Section final between these two schools is going to be more entertaining than the state tournament. I like Jefferson in that match up despite the obvious big game experience.

Burnsville showed us two years ago that anything is possible. Not saying they will, but if a team that proved everything Holy Angels did that year can be beaten by that Burnsville team, counting them out against this Jefferson team that has proven little would be silly.

I don't suspect Burnsville will come close, but it's sections and many things people do not suspect to happen end up happening. Counting anyone out is not smart.

yea

don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of upsets. I'd love to see a another classic burnsville and jefferson battle. But I really think any upset as far as section tournaments is going to happen elsewhere.

I'd like to see Blake take down Breck, or Roseville beat out HM and Tartan. I know you can't really ever count anyone out.. But Edina is bigger, stronger, faster, and better conditioned than Holy Angels. I just don't see an upset happening there. I think the most likely 'upset' would be Roseau over Moorhead.

Jags to state baby! Bank it! Edina will get upset and it'll be a "cake walk" from there...no pun intended!

You left out Blake Chapman and his 1 section final and 3 state tourney games.

I just dont think b-ville can beat the jags...i mean lets get real, the jags beat them 8-1 earlier this season...it just doesnt seem realistic at all.

as for aha and edina, that will be a close game, but edina will beat them easily, but it wont be a blow out. maybe a one or two goal game

as for the champonship..i think jefferson is overall deeper. their defense is extremely strong, and can stop edinas first line. then if you match up the 2nd and 3rd lines jefferson is stronger.

If my prediction is right and the jags make it outta their setion.. they will win state...

i agree that jefferson matches up very well against edina... i must say edina has the more offensive fire power, and if jefferson's defense plays like it did against EP they will probably lose. However, if their defense plays up to par, i believe if they keep edina's first line in check they are a much better overall team. jefferson has arguably (only putting it on here because i know there's many JHS haters around these parts) the best defense in the state.
