3 teams that could defintely win it all and a couple others that could pull the upset. You have to play 2 good games to get there, I will say whoever has the goalie on the hottest streak will pull it out. It's hockey anything can happen remember CDH last year.

Unfortunately, it appeared Stillwater may have lost a player for the duration due to injury in the section final. I don't know for sure as I don't know the full extent of the injury. I hope the injury is minimal but it was thought to be a possible fracture.
This promises to be one of the best state tournaments ever with a few teams capable of winning it all...as noted. I completely expect a bunch of "barn burner" games throughout the tournament.
Naturally, my vote went in the Stillwater column.

Brooky, just be thankful she wasn't one of the top players. This tourney should be a cakewalk for the ponies to the final game. Based on the way they finished the season and if they continue to play that way, I predict two blowouts and a nice win against a tired Hopkins team in the final.

Hey you Stillwater fans, I hope you are healthy and ready for this Tourney. Hopkins was a little short-handed on defense the last time we met and now we are fully loaded and ready for action. I do not think you will have two blow-outs to reach the finals, likely one goal games, but we will be ready and waiting for you after taking care of our business against some tough competition in our bracket.

If I were a Hopkins fan I'd be concerned with their own quarter & semi final opponents and not looking ahead to a potential grudge match in the final.
When I made the "unfortunate" comment earlier, I was speaking with regards to the player and it being unfortunate for her that she'll likely not be playing in the tournament. It must be very difficult to watch from the stands after being part of the team...on that journey through the season and the section tournament.

This was a great young player - Stillwater is not real deep at D this would be a loss if she can't go.

Hey you Joethehokeydad!!! Correct me if I'm wrong but I did not think the Stillwater fans will even be on the rink anytime during the tournament. You sound like another over zealous parent living vicariously through your child in an effort to boost your own insecure ego!!!

Yo, Joe the Hopkins Dad, what are you smokin? Stillwaters path to the final couldn't be easier. Lakeville, come on, that will be like the Warroad/Hutch game. Then, the winner of the Eagan game in the semi's, seriously, another big win. Then they will see a tired edina or hopkins.

You guys can speculate all you want about what happens or who has a difficult or easier path to a title. Fortunately the kids are the ones playing and they will all go out and play as hard as they can for their respective teams and try to win. I dougt any team is underestimating anyone at this point in the season.

It has nothing to do with underestimating or speculation, simply put, some teams in this tournament don't prep themselves to play high calibre teams because they schedule a soft non-conference schedule to go along with their already weak section. The result are blowouts at the state tournament. You will more than likely see more of it today in the double A games as you did yesterday in the single A.

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and Im sure we all respect that. However, this is about a group of kids that most likely dreamed of this very moment and will carry memories with them for ever. Of course we all want the home town team to win as you do also. When it is all over we will have 1 Champion for another year I'm sure they will enjoy every second of that time. By the way no fights allowed!!!

I'm just going to congratulate the Stillwater Ponies on an outstanding season and their hard earned 2009 AA title. Nice job girls. I thought you played exceptionally in the final against an outstanding Hopkins team. Anything less wouldn't have gotten it done.
I'd also like to congratulate the Hopkins Royals on their own excellent season. Many talented players on this team and they played their hearts out.
Congratulations to all teams in both the 1A and 2A tournaments on successful seasons. Reaching the tournament is a great achievement.
