It's probably not too early to start this thread. Sorry if it is; but any head coaching positions open / opening yet?

Duluth could be looking for a few coaches...

Being in the Classic Lake and playing Wayzata twice, I've heard from several Wayzata fans that there could be something brewing in Trojanland.

The only one I've seen officially posted is:

Holy Family (on MSHSL web-site)

I'm sure there will be more to follow after banquet's are done.

Duluth coaches did a great job this year. They will not be goiing anywhere.

How can you say the Duluth co-head coaches did a great job? The messed up the most important and easiest decision any coaches would have to make before that game. If I played in that program a public explanation would be needed to gain my trust again. For not splitting goalies the entire season and then bench a Ms. Goalie in the section semis is crazy.

Game, it is very low class of you to come on this board and pat yourself on the back. What a NUTCup!

It's still very early but I know that one of the obvious possible options at the new Woodbury HS likely won't have an opening as I hear they are co-oping potentially with the existing Woodbury HS.

That aside, we may not hear of many other openings until post state tourney/banquets???

That is the discussion an Eastridge-Woodbury Coop for two years not sure if it is final-final yet or what needs to be done. Numbers to support three HS V & JV between Woodbury and Cottage Grove just aren't there. Woodbury and Cottage Grove also lose a few girls to Hill Murray - I think there were maybe 12 players from those two communities and a couple at Cretin Derham Hall maybe.

To be fair, my comments were just what I heard at a recent game... Understandable that many players head to HM from these communities Woodbury & ParkCG in addition to - NSP, Tartan, WBL, Mahtomedi, etc.

Mankato West

The Mankato West coach stepped down on Monday after what was the most successful season the Scarlets have ever had, Big Nine Champions, Section 2A runner up, 23 - 4 record. He will be greatly missed, a great coach, respected by the parents and players and all around nice guy. Maybe Mankato will unite and finally get back to AA and be able to actually grow the program through a JV rather than playing 7th & 8th graders before their ready.

Woodbury Job is open

Understand that Woodbury job is open with the coaches having resigned - they were great people.

This should be a great opportunity for someone.....Youth program support, Bielenberg ice facilities and demographics are good and the team plays in the top SEC conference and they are currently located in Section 3 one of the weaker paths to State (well at least compared to other metro sections). Linda Plante the Principal at Woodbury is a huge hockey supporter. The Youth Association is engaging and trying to really get bigger numbers of girls into hockey. Woodbury HS is a leader in Girls soccer, basketball, softball and can be in hockey. Wes Bolin came in a few years ago at Woodbury HS boys coach and has made them a powerhouse and built a winning tradition – which can help the incoming girls coach.

The Girls Program has had 3 coaches in maybe 10 years. Current coaching staff was there 5 years and worked hard - I think this was their best season record close to .500? There are a few very talented HS players to build from and the team will have returning to start next year 2 seniors, 5 juniors. 2 sophmores and 1 freshman.

Woodbury youth hockey has produced some good female players they just aren't all playing in Woodbury.

Now Playing D1/D3: Breanna Miller, Hamlin Woodbury HS; Annie Bauerfeld, Bemidji State SSP HS; Emily Klatt, Gustavus Woodbury HS; Nicole Welch Robert Moris Woodbury HS/CDH;

Still in HS but playing outside Woodbury:
Hill Murray: Jess Harren 12, committed UND; Casey Knajdek 12, committed UConn; Maggie McDowell 11, Maggie Pendleton 11, Alie McKeever 10, Teona Zepeda 9, Syd Fabian 9, Natalie Hagar 9, Grace Dwyer 8,
Holy Angels: Kelsey Romatoski 12, committed to Harvard
CDH: ? Tinnucci 9
Stillwater - Lisa Tuuri 11
Thoroughbreds - Kari Lundberg 11

Does the sartell girls team have a jv team as well. Is there any word on if this position was filled and why it is vacant?

Based on recent discussions, I would imagine that maybe Shattuck St Mary will have an opening at the 16U level

What's the word on Knapp leaving? Is this connected to the St. Scholastica program or just run out of town?

Knapp quit.

Rumor is that Fryklund took the job at Scholastica.

wow

So, with that rumor; I wonder who will be applying for the Duluth Stars job. Interesting. How do the players feel?

Mike Haedrich takes over at Henry Sibley. Previous coach didn't even attend year-end banquet.

Wasn't Shawna Davidson the coach prior to Knapp. Wouldn't be surprised to see her back in that roll.

Could davidson be a candidate at St. Scholastica?

Davidson was the coach of the Denfeld/Central "Devils" and Frykland and Knapp were coaches of East. When the schools all combined (still blows my mind that the Duluth district can only field ONE team wtih 3 high schools...and I don't think they have JV or at least they didn't before) Knapp and Frykland were the coaches.

Sorry if I spelled Amber's name wrong.

You sound bitter.

Wasn't there a former Gopher serving as an assistant at some point (Someone like Natalie Lamme)? I don't know about last year but two or three years ago......

I do remember Coach Langevin was a screamer, which was surprising considering his background.
