All-State and All-State honorable mention awards were issued today at the Lets Play Hockey Banquet. It was an unbelievably talented junior class. Does anyone know where or if this list gets published? If my short term memory loss wasn't so bad I would start the list myself

It will be in Let's Play Hockey, probably the next issue.

This was the only thing on line a list of nominees from 2/23/09 - sounds like some different names also were written in.

I am sorry - But when you have a girl like Christina LaCombe from EP NOT making ALL State team 1 or team 2 and getting Honorable mention. I have HUGE problem with - Christina had 51 points in the Lake Conference as a Junior Defensemen and leading the Eagles to a better than average season, which most people thought we weren't going have a chance- Thats just plain wrong......
You have some ALL State selections where girls couldn't even muster up 17 points on the year...Not that it's all about points, Come on man!!
But for some reason the Lake Conference sends 2 teams to State and you get (1) All State selection out of th whole conference..? You have to be kidding me..!!!

Hockeya1a...I would love to know how many EAST side girls make the team compared to west siders...I can see a couple from Stillwater and Roseville, since they had a great year....
How many out state girls will there be ...? These girls piled up some good numbers and just because of NUMBERS they make it in....More than half or all of these girls would NOT even come close to scoring like that in the LAKE or Classic Lake...
I am not taking away anthing from these Girls talent - but If we played a teams like they play half the time, there would be alot more 50 pointers in the Lake & Classic Lake conference.... Imagine playing Kennedy 15 times...?!!

Eastsiders?
Christine is a great player and deserving. She did score 24 pts against Kennedy, Jefferson, and Lakeville. How many points did she score against Eastside Stillwater, Eastview, Eagan?
Compare EP schedule to a Stillwater, Roseville, Hill, or a East side team.

Those 3 teams had a good year and a tough schedule...I am done with these rant. They are a few others beside Christina that should have made it from the Lake & Classic lake - No DOUBT! Just a FYI - I am not Christina's parent...Just a huge supporter of the the EP team and the Lake Conference

And you are correct in the fact there are plenty of girls that get named because of there scheduale, anytime there are plenty of lopsided games of 10-0 14-0 and etc you will find elavated stats, and yes some of those are Far western Outside of the Suburbs I had just looked at some of the goalie stats only because that was the smallest amount of numbers to deal with still looking at players, and was amazed at how many girls shared time faced far fewer shots and made the list, Look at Julie Friends stats she played awsome this year and was over looked. some that had less admirable stats or shared time made the list.

Another missing and very deserving name is Tianna Press from BSM. Played 25 of 26 games with a 1.26 GAA and a .936 SV%. Should have at least made the final 10, IMO.

That link is from a North Dakota paper. There many girls not listed there that I am sure were nominated. I think they shortened the list because of space maybe.
Why don't we just wait and see who's on it when the list actually comes out before knocking who's on it.

This is only the AP list. Ever year this is a strange one because I don't think many of the eligible voters know most of the players.
Like ALL years, I agree with GhsHockey that the TRUE All-State team is the MGHSCA list that is compiled and voted on by the coaches.
It will be the list that will appear in Let's Play Hockey.
I assume like past years they did NOT have a list with a program so unless someone wrote fast or taped it at the banquet (sic) it's almost impossible to find until it shows up in the LPH.
Oh - goalies - it is very difficult to make this list as a 10th grader - some years even as a junior.

Please note I'm a fan of Christine. I was sticking up for the Eastsiders whom always play tough schedules and who normally get over looked because of it.
HM plays a very strong nonconference schedule and a stronger schedule than EP in my opinion. Look at the top 15 teams they've faced and done quite well against and do the same with EP who I feel played a very weak schedule. My daughter doesn't play for Hill and yes they should play in a different conference.
As I mentioned Christine was deserving and a great player. I feel a lot of girls get overlooked. Especially hockey players who might not score a lot of goals but play both ways up and down the ice. When you only pick by points it makes for more individuals. The complete hockey players or are the one's that deserve awards.

PS the AP list is interesting and while many deserving players are on there many others aren't.

Why are Grand forks and Jamestown newspapers doing a better job of publishing Minnesota all-state teams???
