If it's a poor team, that player better be the absolute best with nobody even close to them. Is that the case? If not, pay to go to the showcase events or just forget about it. You see a lot of names mentioned on this board, but add them ALL up and it's still a small fraction of the total varsity players in this state. A typical kid should just enjoy his high school experience for what it is... the highest level he'll ever play at.movethepuck wrote:How does a player who should be on these lists, but isn't, get some recognition ?
Maybe a multi sport athlete who doesn't go to every showcase event, maybe one who plays for a school that has a poor program, maybe one who has a coach who does not actively promote players.
I know of several players that fall into this category but I'm sure there are many others. This player may never get a look from a D1 program since the scouts seem to follow each other around watching the same players year after year.

I think the Advanced 15,16 and 17 tournaments are one of the best. If you are a good player your coach should nominate you for this. The farther you progress the better but, even if you don't make it to the end there are scouts at some of the earlier rounds. There are alot of good players out there that don't get talked about on these boards.
If you are good enough, they will find you.
