Let the poll speak.
Publics. Privates should get their own tourney.

They should be in the same tourney, although I do thoroughly enjoy private schools and Edina losing.

I cheer for any private school playing against Edina. I'm not a private fan but I always love to see Edina lose.

Yeah, I would rather see a private win than those cocky rich kids from Edina.

I would have to say it depends on the private...

Keep it this way but ALL Privates move to AA. Maybe take over Section 1.

Does Edina really represent the richest school district in the state? How about this new school, Chanhassen?
This would be an interesting survey to run: median household income for each school district. Probably the private schools would come out highest if there was a way of getting info on the family income levels.

I don't know about all being in one section, but DEFINITLY should all be required to play in AA, no matter what the size.

I'd be interested to here Lou Nanne's excuse for losing again. I always love listening to him complain when they lose.

The number of options available is not a fair choice. The two are definitely not equal, and while I would not pick private schools absolutely over private, I wouldn't pick private absolutely over public schools either.
A public education is one basic principle our nation is built on, and one that will hopefully improve all around as well. Sports is part of this.

Whenever a public school is playing a private I always root for public. The only exception to this rule is of course Roseau who I will always root against no matter who they're playing.
Best to worst

Private school or open enrollment public school (I swear we don't recruit), not much difference except the price tag..

To paraphrase the great Homer Simpson, "You can make a stat to show anything....32% of all people know that."
Depends how you look at it. Median household income isn't the best indicator for such a study. The thing with Edina that throws off the statistics is they have a much higher senior citizen population than most communities, 2nd to Roseville I believe in the metro area. Senior Citizens are for the most part retired, so they aren't bringing in any income.
I believe the stat I heard was that Edina is actually only ranked 19 in the metro area in terms of median income. Of course, like I stated above, that statistic is a bit flawed. The value of living in Edina lies in the property & home value. A very similar house in Eden Prairie and Edina has a much higher price in Edina. Believe me, I know, because I've bought two houses in Eden Prairie and looked at both communities.
Bottom Line: There are just as many wealthy people living in Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Wayzata, Plymouth, West Bloomington, Chaska, Woodbury, and Maple Grove as there are in Edina. The difference is that Edina has a reputation because they were established before the others as a well-off area, and they aren't liked because they have over 100 state championships, which is about 50 more than the next closest school. They're hated because of the affluence AND the fact that they win. Wayzata isn't hated because they don't win. Same with Minnetonka. Eden Prairie isn't hated yet, but will be if they keep churning out football titles and when the other titles in different sports keep coming as well, hockey included.

God I hate this argument. It's hockey, it's a puck, three forwards, two defense, one goalie and two nets.
Private Schools can be a great option for many, and Public Schools can too (sometimes even better).
The Public vs. Private debate is to this site what T.O and A-Rod are to ESPN................glutinous bull*&^%.
I hope the five young boys on here who find this forum as the right medium to discuss your "tortourous" childhood in the public school system or your "perfect" life as a private school student realize how pathetic and exhausting this topic is.

saintpaulhockey,
you are right, but it is an ignorance thing. People at public schools hear all sorts of things (God only knows where they start) that aren't true. I don't have an issue with asking and bringing things up. The issue I have is when people inform you of things to tell them they are wrong and not respect them about it. I have learned many things about public schools from this forum and other experiences. I took them to heart, not telling people they are wrong.
