Did the Gophers offer a scholarship to the most prolific scorer in MN High School hockey history?
Or is this another miss by Lucia much like the older Gardiner kid?

I would love to watch Hano friday and saturday nights wearing maroon and gold. He's a fantastic player and deserves to play at a big time WCHA school.

He chose to play for the huskies

If this year is a indicator of what the future holds for the U, I'd rather be a Husky or a Maverick recruit than a Gopher. Lucia focuses on the all-stars who either fizzle or leave for the pros. Better to have some lesser known guys who can grind and actually play the game than rather those who don't know what to do when the going gets tough.

I need to see him in person. Yes he got a few points tonight, but I did not see anything that proved him to be a fabulous player. He was around the goal, got the bounces and something tells me that is how he got most of his points. I am not convinced he should be Mr. Hockey.

It certainly shouldn't be anybody from the Co-Stars!! What time does AHA play tomorrow?

The fumes from the zamboni must have got to you today Zamman...because out of your 1,378 posts...the bold letters from your quoted post above regarding Hano...is the daffiest observation you've ever made...

because although they are different style players, Ben is cut from the same cloth as Danny Mattson...both are fabulous players and future NHL draft choices.

That first goal by Ben was sick. Dangles, then backhands it top shelf.

Make no mistake, this kid is an amazing high school hockey player. He has the shot, the moves, and he can get by at this level with his speed. My only question is how he will adapt at the college level. He doesn't have the speed to get around the much faster defenders he will be seeing in the WCHA. Dont get me wrong, im sure he will be a solid player, but his lack of speed may keep him from becoming a stud in college.

True that. I have played with ben growing up through mites and to see him dominate like that in front of the state!! If anyone watched the game to night he does it all!!! By the way he turned down the gophers to go play for a real hockey team!!! He stepped it up tonite!!! By the way be prepared to watch him and jared feslter tear it up!!! Go Flyers/Huskies!!!!

I can understand the arguments for staying with your community and such, but was staying in LF this year the best choice for his future development as a player? Getting a state title, which he has a good chance of doing, with your friends is amazing, but playing 31 games, with only 9 against decent competition isn't close to the same as playing 50+ all against possibly better competition. Just curious what people think.
Zamman wasn't saying he wasn't a great player. He was simply saying he didn't prove tonight to be Mr. Hockey.

This is the exact same thing people said about Festler - go look at his stats and tell me that you aren't cutting him down just like people cut down Festler.

Zamman, how do you score 400 career points on getting lucky points around the net? he scores all the time because he is a great hockey player...that backhand snipe was an nhl back hand snipe he scored tonight...the kid is legit and will be a very good player in the wcha
people also ripped johnny pohl in high school and he wasn't highly regarded coming out...how did his career end up? oh yea all american...won a natty title....played in the nhl....playing in europe now

Agreed, he should win Mr. Hockey award unless one of the other candidates does something spectacular this tournament.

When do they vote on Mr. Hockey? I know the winner is revealed on Sunday, but has the vote already taken place?

I'm actually one of ben's really good friends. Before he committed to SCSU he had a visit set up with the gophers, but a week before the visit he called Donny Lu to cancel

Read my post.. Im not cutting him down, i said he was an amazing high school hockey player. I'm just stating my opinion that imo he doesnt have enough speed to be a stud in college. Once again, not saying he wont be good at college, just that his college career wont consist of breaking the all time scoring record like in high school.

Wait, you can't possibly be describing One and Done University can you? Still chasing that elusive 1st NCAA win I see.
