How can you say that? The AA teams haven't even played yet. They could end up being a great tournament filled with great games.

I think the reason they aren't in the tourney is becasue they aren't very good this year.

I can understand how it can be boring for a team that's seeded # 1 and then heads to Mariucci the next day. That would suck.

i agree with edinafast, with single a teams like duluth marshall and hermantown not in the tournament, the highschool magic and excitement just isnt there in the single a department! on the other hand, in class aa teams like Duluth east and Moorhead will add passion and heart to the tournament. should be a lame single a tournament.... but a very exciting double a.

Every year is boring for certain people. Depends who you're a fan of. I forget even who was all in it, but a few years ago I had this same attitude. I think the year Burnsville made it, there was a bunch of generic names in it.
This year however I personally disagree. There are 4 names I really like. Edina, Eden Prairie, Duluth East and Hill Murray. Awesome! Should be a good time.

Warroad doesn't bring that sense of "tradition" to the A tournament? I beg to differ. Little Falls is literally the "heart" of Minnesota (smack dab in the middle) and small falls fans could be treated to "perfection" this season. That story line alone, let alone Hanowski's accomplishments not only this season but his whole career brings imagination to the Class A tournament.
Are you guys kidding?

It's time to change diapers.

Hey Slappathiah ... it's good to see you again. A little bird inside the cat's mouth told me that Angus Young is hiding in the bushes. Is he one of the defector's? You know the type .... Packerboyish. Speaking of which ... I'm looking forward to watching his kid tomorrow. Pass the butter please.
I completely agree.

What more does anyone want unless you want to blow up the section championships and re-organize the State Tourney based upon rankings. Edina beat Jefferson, EP beat Tonka, Blaine beat Cent and East beat Elk River. Is it the teams of Cretin, Hill, Moorhead and Rochester making it to the State bothering you. This is setting up for two of the top 10 ranked teams playing for the title. Might be EP vs Edina would be a great State final, Blaine vs Edina, maybe EP vs East or Blaine vs East. Anyway, these teams got their by winning when it counts. Isn't that what this is all about. It would have been great to see Jefferson, Cent, White Bear, Stillwater, HA, Tonka and even teams like Wayzata, Hopkins, Burnsville, Apple Valley, Roseau, Rapids, but this is the structure in place. Maybe this should be treated as a 16 team field.

I think we will be treated to 2 very good semifinal games in Single A on Friday as well wih SCC - Warroad and Small Falls - Breck. This tournament is really shaping up to match up some good games, especially in semifinals

I do not think that the tournament is boring without those teams.

Were you at the X last night? Pretty large crowd I thought. Great atmosphere. Face it, with the exception of Warroad, the power in single A was from central MN and south.

Boring huh?
Hermantown is not there because they weren't better than SCC.
Duluth Marshall is not there because... they weren't better than a lot of teams. So if you're not metro or Northern you suck? You're boring?
Give me a break, this is a great tourney year in year out no matter who is in it. Let the kids play, let us watch and all have fun, sour grapes for those without their favorites teams in the tourney, wine and cheese and lots of beer for the rest of us.

I think seeding the top four teams has turned the state tournament into a two day event. The first day is rather boring. Yesterday there was not one game within 3 goals and I wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing today.
This seeding has also ruined office pools. 95% of the pools pick the first day correctly which makes it a moot point. Even people who know nothing about high school hockey can look at the seedings and get the first four games correct. There is no bantering going around until the second round begins.
Bring back the three day tournament and get rid of the seedings!

haha.. you guys are either ignorant to the caliber of the A teams in the semis or just like to complain.
Warroad vs SCC
LF vs Breck.
These could be two of the best class A matchups ever.
Class A was packed with talented teams this year. Anyone who says otherwise really doesn't know what they are talking about. The teams you're mentioning wouldn't have made it better, because the teams that are here can compete with each other. No one wants to see teams get blown out every round. There were 2, and none of the games from here in will be anything short of classic.
If you don't like the A tourny thisd year and think it's gonna be boring, don't watch it.

SCC 5, Mahtomedi 3
Breck 3 (EN) Lourdes 0
Not a single game within 3 goals? how's 50% of them?
They do the seedings so the best two teams in the state don't play each other in the first round and let the winner stomp people in the later rounds. Do you want blow outs in the semi's and finals? or do you want the cream to rise to the top after the quarters?
If you don't expect anything differently today, then you're saying that you expect at least 50% of the games to be within 3 goals of each other (would be two without the EN). Double A has two noticeable chances for upsets. Cretin could take DE, and HM could beat EP. We're due for an upset. I think one of those will happen.

Within 3 goals means less than 3!

BTW, SCC 5 - Maht 2.

Oh, I took within 3 to mean three or less. In which case 5 - 2 would still fit.

Hey, that's all right. Nice edit on your previous post to remove your rip on knowing the scores though!
