Third place games never televised? Anyone have any ideas as to why they don't air the 3rd place games?

Because championship games are more important and not many people would watch the 3rd place game.

Wow, great philosophy.

They won 3 post season games in a row, then lose one game and no one cares about them. They're still playing in the state tournament.

Yesterday when the Hill/EP game went into OT the announcer commented that was the first game this tournament to go into OT...the Mahtomedi/Hutchinson game just a couple hours earlier went into OT.

If no one cares about anything but the main bracket, it seems silly to even have the games. Why not be like most other sports and just have a main bracket?

Simply because air time is bought and is very expensive. Ratings would come into effect here and it would not be financially worth putting the 3rd place games on the air. Nobody would buy advertising for the cost of it to have nobody watching.

In the days of 1 class hockey, all games were televised and all games had great attendance. There were more people at consolation games than at most sessions of A hockey now and I am guessing the TV viewership was like that also.

I'm thinking Mr. Dooher and the Education Minnesota union has spent its entire advertising budget already with its commercials supporting education funding.

Well, I kind of saw it coming after LF played their 1st line all game against Virginia and wasn't at all surprised that Breck won today by such a large margin but that isn't why I asked, I just thought it was a little, for lack of better terms, disrespectful, I think 3rd place and championship games should be aired for both classes.

Do you rant to walls at your house as well?

I'm going to start labeling all of my posts "joke" or "sarcasm" after everyone that might just confuse you.

Maybe at least the AA consolation bracket should be, with cut-ins of the A when possible. I think it's terrible the tournament is on a VHF channel you can't even get if you are staying in a hotel! I think more of the regular season could be successfully (for the advertisers) televised.
