Paul Bailey resigned as head coach of the Rebels at his end of season banquet last week. Anyone have any knowledge of his potential replacements? I've heard Pat Janostins name mentioned.

I have heard a couple of names being bandied around. Janostin is the first one out of anyone's mouth in Champlin. He once was the coach and ran out by some idiotic parents many years ago. I would be surprised if he took it again. I think he would be much better with the girls program. The other name I have heard is Chick Pojar (sp?) from North Metro.
Honestly, if they could get a good coach, the program could flourish. You are already drawing from the largest enrollment in the state. Every good player goes private just to avoid playing for Bailey (look at the Breck roster alone from this year....... 5 junior/soph starters). The best thing that could have happened was a change.

I've always thought that Champlin's hockey program has greatly under achieved (and yes, I live within the boundaries). They have a great arena and they are one of only 3 schools in Minnesota with an enrollment of over 3,000 (the other 2 being Wayzata and Eden Prairie). Hopefully they get a coach who can turn things around. I've heard that there is a Bantam A coach at Maple Grove that might be in the running as well.

It was definitely time for a change within the program, big time underachievers. Hopefully they bring in the right guy to turn things around.
Watching CP over the years, they've always lacked discipline, hopefully you get a solid coach who will keep guys playing for their home town rather than opting for the private schools.

If all kids were to stay at champlin they would have a good shot at winning 5AA next year.
There forward lines would be something like this...
Fulton- 64 Points R. Borer- 32 Points C. Borer- 14 Points (Missed a Majority of the games with shoulder injury).
That first line alone is just as good if not better then any first line in the section.
Mix in some Totino-Grace Players at forwards they would have three deep lines.
Defensively theyd add Rudnick a member of the Advanced 15 national team last year.
Also you would add one of the best goalies in the state with Russell back there.
To bad they all left or we might have seen Blaines reign over section 5 end.

Breck recruits almost exclusively from Champlin. Flakne (recruiter) has created a feeder line from there.

Rumor has it that several kids didn't even need to be recruited (didn't want to play for Bailey). We'll see if Janostin can build a wall around the city of Champlin.

Looks to be more of the same. Ho-hum.
