The 95 Breakaway/Machine/Fire on Steroids (what ever you want to call them) are extremely stacked and should easily run away with the title.

This post is for the 1995 Tournament.

If the tournament would go as the rules CLEARLY state, the games should be:

1st Place - LSS vs MN Icemen

3rd Place - Breakaway vs Jr. Islanders

When the Icemen beat the ENTIRE Breakaway team 7-2, the genius Showcase director decided not to count it. This is the most watered down tournament I have ever been to. GET "AAA" HOCKEY HOW IT USED TO BE!

What are you talking about? Was there something unfair done to a team or are you just saying that they beat them the 2nd time so the first one shouldn't count...curious.

Showcase had the brilliant idea of allowing Breakaway to basically act as two teams in the same pool. Some of their games counted, some didn't. I think the games that were scheduled against "Breakaway II" were the games that didn't count. What a completel joke. Are they going to try and tell us they couldn't get another team to be that 10th team? Or couldn't they swallow their pride and bring in a "non-alliance" team?

Either way, it shows how poorly run Showcase Hockey has become (as if people didn't already know) and how poorly conceived this whole "AAA Alliance" was.

That being said, IMO, Breakaway was the class of the 95 level and deserve to be in the championship game for a couple of reasons:

1) They beat the Icemen with a partial roster. Beating the Icemen with a partial roster is more impressive than losing to them with your full roster, IMO.

2) Every player on that team had to play 7-8 games this weekend, fatigue could've been the reason for their loss to the Icemen yesterday.

Irregardless of who SHOULD be playing for the championship, this was a complete folly and Showcase Hockey should be extremely embarrassed by what they did.

Thanks...that explains a lot. I completely agree that having a team essentially play twice in one bracket makes no sense. Showcase should have found a better option. I would be interested to know if they collected double the money from that team or if they let one slide a little on the fee.

Even so, the fact that they beat the icemen as the second team still should count and I think it makes sense that the team advanced to the finals. However, Showcase should learn from this and never allow that type of situation to occur again.

Thanks for clarifying what happened...and your right, Showcase should be embarrassed!!
