Does anyone know or have a clue where some of the Classic Lake teams will end up? Is there any chance of Edina or Wayzata joining the Lake?

From a recent Star Tribune article: "With the Dakota County plan on hold, the focus returns to the status of the Classic Lake Conference. When that league disbands after 2009-10, Armstrong will join the Northwest Suburban. The other four schools -- Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka and Wayzata -- will be placed in existing conferences by the Minnesota State High School League. That process will be completed in early September."

I had heard the Lake Conference. Guess we'll find out soon enough. Also heard it will be decided by September.

There is still hard feelings in the Lake from when Edina and the other teams left the Lake, because the Lake was getting too big and watered down, and at that time the teams that left couldn't compete with some of the up and coming suburbs.

A lot will depend on whatever becomes of the proposed Dakota County Conference, if Farmington becomes the 7th team then Burnsville could become the 8th which would effectively end the Lake as we now know it. Farmington is about 5 miles from Lakeville and is in the top class in all sports while the Missota is generally made up of lower class teams. Reduced travel costs plus a jump up in class for all sports would be good for Farmington which struggles with the change in class come sections.

I know Farmington said no to the Dakota County people last fall but times have changed since then so it wouldn't shock me to see them go there.

Then you would have a revamped "Lake" with the 4 former CLC members, Jefferson, EP, Chaska, etc.

Farmington seems to be trying to "catch up" to the class they're in before they jump to a more competitive conference. I think they should just make the jump now, They are moving into a new high school building this fall, the largest in the state, literally 100 feet from the Lakeville border. They always seem to meet a Lakeville team in sections, they might as well be conference rivals too.

Now it looks like all four Classic Lake schools that are left will be going to the Lake, and Chaska and Chanhassen will be going to the Missota after this year. What will happen to the Bloomington schools? What about Holy Angels?
