Liquor Served At MM???

So MM was serving beer during the Preview Cup this last weekend? How do the MM parents feel about this?

I have been forever against sending my kids there because of how they interact with the kids. Those tactics are just counterproductive to their development.
However, if they serve beer, then the kids are just going to have to suck it up. Do you know if the Grinders or Snipers are accepting new players?

Come on now, is this for real?
Was it just for the Preview weekend or is it available all the time?
Seems strange since parents have to sneak out when at tournaments to have a beer or cocktail. This seems to be against one of their "rules".

I heard that a local restaurant/Sports Bar was brought in to sell both food and drink for the spectators. BBQ, Chicken, Hambugers, etc and beer.buzzsaw wrote:So MM was serving beer during the Preview Cup this last weekend? How do the MM parents feel about this?

Yes i was there for the tournament. A local restaurant was there and sold tap beer along with food. Not everyone participated, but there were people sipping cold ones!

It doesn't seem that anyone has much of an issue with this. In Canada you can enjoy a Molson with your fries and gravy; there isn't a movement toward boycotting Canada. When the kids were swimming at the hotel, did the parents refrain from enjoying a margarita on the rocks with salt on the rim? I'm certainly not advocating for puting in taps at every arena or erecting beer tents at little league games, but are we that hypocritical. Of course, the first time a guy uses a broken beer bottle to slit the throat of someone calling little Johnny a sieve, and there goes the fun for all of us. Or perhaps buzzsaw/quack/J&J is grinding away at the same ax?

I've been to summer tourneys at the Ralph in EGF & alcohol was served during the tourny.
No biggy. The crowd (parents) were much better behaved then most association games. 0 problems.
Yes, I did consume a beer or two...only to work on my Sioux souvenir cups.

Water parks serve beer and alcohol, what's the difference? I'd rather see them sell beer than sit 8 year old kids for an entire tournament.

I'm with sorno and dmom!! Never been a MM, Bernie or Machine fan but if they're serving beer...now we're talking! Wonder if they needed a liquor license?

I agree that I'm not sending the message to my kids that it is ever okay to drink and drive, but for the non-driving parent it is legal. Let's see, Mr. D had a beer with his steak on the deck last night (the kids were there--a rare night off from baseball), I've had a bartender deliver drinks to the waterpark in a plastic cup (when staying overnight), we went to Applebees and I had a mango daiquiri (kids were there, Mr. D was driving). Now, maybe my kids will all end up in treatment, but if they do it will be because their mother scarred them for life
not because one of us had a beer.Frankly, I have met an awful lot of hockey parents that could use a little mellowing out. The people who get mean and nasty will be dealt with the same way they are if they get mean and nasty in their own homes or at a bar.

It is an outside vender Joe Sencer's they sold burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs and beer. It is really for the Stars and Strips tournament that is this weekend which is loaded with Canadian teams. you know how those Canadians love their beer.

I like MM a lot for many reasons. I just think it seems like double talk when BB enforces a no drink policy for parents on the road for tournaments but sells it at his arena. I doesnt appear that many MM have replied to this.

I'm not really an advocate. I don't tend to drink at those places, but I think my kids need to learn about the social aspects of alcohol because it is legal.

I have heard it from many parents.. just another Hypocritical statement coming out of his mouth,when in fact when it is all about the $$$ it is ok. He should be embarrassed.
