Starts today at 3:00. You can follow along here. This is for 1993's only. I'm not sure how they're handling the distribution of older players. Anyway, who do you think might get selected? The first round will likely consist of mostly NTDP rejects. As for Minnesotans, we're likely to see some players get taken early for the simple fact that the team thinks they can get them to leave high school. Other talented 1993's will be chosen if they think they can get them into the USHL at some point in the future. So, any guesses?

Found it, thanks! The website indicates that 1993's taken in the future's draft aren't likely to play in '09-'10, but I don't believe that makes them ineligible. Apparently, '93s can also be taken in tomorrow's draft, but I don't see how any of them would be left over after today's draft.

I can't believe there are many 93s that are physically and mentally mature enough to play successfully in the USHL. Maybe I will be proven wrong again

They'll draft them now, but most won't play until 2-3 years from now. Ambroz is a good example of the "exception", as he is one fo the few 93's who is "physicall able" to play in the USHL now.

They still have the draft rights for 3 years. I think there is a limit on how many they can "protect" on thier roster, not sure what that amount is though.

Yes. Because he was younger than the draft age, he was considered a free agent. He signed with Omaha to be near his brother. He's a MAJOR exception to the rule. Don't expect that any '94s will be in the USHL this coming season, much less make an impact.

Thanks for the updates/list guys! Interesting draft - do the teams think these kids will go this fall (JR year)? Also, couldn't Boyd accelerate like Ness did and go straight from Ann Arbor to D1? Then he would never have to play Junior hockey.

Yes he could, its just up to him if he wants to do that or not.

Actually, isn't it Sioux City that he is involved with?

Regardless, that was a good pick. He is the most gifted 93 in MN. A 9th grader, a little undersized right now, might be a late bloomer and may very well need to play in the USHL for a couple of years after high school.

I am not seeing what you are seeing; he is a nice player, but the "most gifted" 93 in Minnesota; hardly. I can name ten 93s that are as, if not more, gifted.

Skill wise, Reilly is the best! If you had a skills competion with all the 93's in MN, Reilly would win. Now throw in the 92's and 91's, he would probably would win that too!!! Wait a minute, doesn't FHIT do annually on ice/off ice testing that includes a skills elevaluation that all the USHL teams get? Who was number one? If you knew that, then you probably would not say there are 10 players as gifted as Reilly.

Add to his skills, his un-canney "hockey sense" and you have MN most gifted 93. Only other player that has a similar hockey sense is Boyd.

Reilly is the real deal, lets hope he grows so we all an see him play beyond high school hockey.

I believe Mr. Reilly is somehow affiliated with a business venture that owns and operates sports franchises. One of them being the Sioux Falls Stampede... which now owns the rights for all 3 Reilly boys. But hey, they are all phenomenal hockey players and good kids to boot.

Question: If I am correct I only counted 11 out of the 65 kids as MN ties? is this correct? and if So, Why is MN not represented as well as I would think it would be? Just seems to me that MN kids the past few years are not the places scouts are searching now adays ???

any input? just curious. thanks

Because most kids from Minnesota won't leave high school in their senior year and alot of those that did have been bombs.

Not as many players from MN are motivated to leave thier high school program and elite league for the USHL. Other areas don't provided the same opportunity, therefore those other players are a little more motivated to leave there high school/midget program.

Why draft from MN who won't leave thier high school program early for possible only 1 year vs. a player you could get for 3 years?

Talent wise, MN is far deeper, compared to other areas.

Input - The simple fact that there are arenas going up all over the country which allows players all over the country as much ice time and good coaching as MN players. The 2nd fact that MN players do not skate out side as much as they used to in the past. Mostly because city budgets have been cut and there are not near the outdoor rinks being maintained as there was 5 to 10 years ago. So the playing field has been leveled!
There is nothing wrong with MN hockey or it's hockey players, the rest of the country is just catching up to were we were 10 years ago.
