GR had an impressive showing from both of their goaltenders and several of the younger players looked pretty good. 2 senior forwards that were role players last year showed that they should be tough and will contribute this season and a senior defenseman played very physical and will help to anchor a solid defensive squad this winter.
Holy Angels looked down from last year as expected as did Cathedral. Marshall looked to be an extremely fast team that may need help with their goaltending. BSM does not look like a top 5 team but it's early. They played without a couple of regulars but still were not impressive.
Those are the only teams I saw but scores indicate that Bemidji will most likely struggle this year as will Warroad and Cloquet.

GR... BSM was without..
Patterson (Returning Goal Scorer)
Horn (Representing Team USA at 5 Nations)
Steinhauser
Anderson
Besse
Duda
Meyers (Starting Goalie)
Which means there whole first line was gone.
You cant judge summer scrimmages when they don't bring up there first line.
AHA had there top 2 lines and all 4 top D as well as Burke (starting goalie)

Heard that Patterson played and was injured during the tourney and the others were playing baseball. GR was missing 5 regulars as well, and if you read, you would have seen I said it's still early. Either way, all I said is they don't appear to be a top 5 team. Sorry.

They did win the tourney without having core of their lineup present, so it's probably premature to jump to any conclusions.

Knowing what BSM returns for experience I would speculate a top 5 team this season. should be quite a battle in their section.

I figured it out
Patterson played 2 periods and then got hurt in the first game
but Meyers played the first 2 games
then a freshman goalie (don't know the name) played the final game.
and Besse should be a varsity player, He is out at Nationals now and lead the wayzata BA's in pts
Just see if he can make the jump

Hmm a freshman playing? i thought they had a good JV goalie who would be a JR. How did the kid do?
