With Alex and sartell added to 4a this could be difficult year for LF, but even though LF lost there 2 best players i believe they will have more depth this year and they still have Jared Festler on the rise.

Last year's Festler line was Beau Hanowski and Jorgenson, correct? As far as offensive depth, they still have Joey Cotton..and will be adding newcomer Ben Hanowski who I understand has more size than any of the above and decent skill. So, they should have two good lines....defensively I have no idea what they have other than a senior goaltender who did an ok job for them.

Someone in the know on LF's returning defense?

There are five returning Defensemen for the Flyers. Pender is the enforcer on Defense and will be a leader this year.

From what i saw at the advanced 15 festival in st. cloud, ben had to be one of the top 5 90's in the state even with a bad back..he should produce A LOT for LF this year..watch out for this kid in 3 or 4 years.

Did he (Ben H.) advance to the National Tournament team after the 15's camp in St. Cloud this summer?

I Thought there wasn't a team for nationals in select 15's, but a camp where scouts could go to watch and I believe Hanowski went to the camp.

Well, there is the festival camp that follows the weekend of tournaments where about 128 kids are picked from Minnesota to compete against each other for a week in the camp setting. Then I believe after that a final 20-24 are picked to advance on to the nationals. The nationals were at SCSU for the 15's two years ago and it was the first year they did a "mixed" version. Teams were not representatative of one state or one region...they were all mixed in together and competed against each other. But, maybe things switched up this year and they didn't do a national.

Pender has been playing varsity since 9th grade, but he was just on the roster his 9th grade year ever since then though hes been 1st-2nd line defense. Hes also the captain this year.

Last season that Stearns kid from wadsville scored like 13 goals. While Pender only scored 2

Stearns was also voted to the Coaches All Section team ahead of Pender.<img src=

I think Little Falls may be state bound again Yes Butch Rakow is currently playing for the junior b owls. Returning defensemen Pender and Matt Boone look to be the starting D. With Kluver in the net who played well in the section playoffs. Also young players like the hanowski brothers, Festler, and Jorgenson I look for the flyers to have another excellent season. Remember the Flyers beat Alex last year.

I agree that the Flyers are contenders. BUT, beating Alex last year didn't mean a whole lot, especially since Lickteig and the older Festler were still with LF. I believe last year's LF team lost to Sartell, didn't they? And Sartell had some injuries in that game, if memory serves me right. I think LF returns some fine players, but I think this section will be close among 4 or 5 teams, and won't be a gimme to any team.

Very true

I agree this section is a toss up but I would say the contenders are Sartell, Alex, Little Falls and Fergus Falls. I also believe LF lost to sartell last year.

Another poster (on a different thread entitled who will win Section 4A) said Alex was returning 15 varsity players and a goalie. (FYI that thread has been locked, but you can still read some of the posts.)

If that is the case, Alex is probably the team in this section returning with the most experience. They may feel they have a point to make this year moving to the A class, too, so they are contenders for the title.

If that is the case, I would have to put Alex as the favorite in this section. Little Falls will be down. I doubt they will have the talent to make it out of this section after losing fessler and lickteig (sp?). Sartell also graduated a large amount of seniors, but they do have a talented junior class that will have to carry the team next year. I am predicting a slow start for them, but Meinz could have them ready to compete by playoffs. Does anyone know much about how Fergus will be next year? I don't know anything about them or Wadena. The rest of the teams I am assuming don't have much of a chance at taking it this year.

Fergus

I think Fergus is also returning most of their players correct me If I'm wrong.
