Right now they are still soliciting interest from schools. Anticipate the schedule being out late October/early November. They are on tap for 26 games, and are looking at double-header options, also. (boy's/girl's game or central locations for four teams.)

Not entirely the same thing, but kind of along similar lines.
FOX SPORTS NORTH AND THE MINNESOTA WILD ANNOUNCE
FOURTH ANNUAL “HOCKEY DAY MINNESOTA”
Fox Sports North, in conjunction with the National Hockey League’s Minnesota Wild, announced today a cooperative effort to celebrate the Fourth Annual Hockey Day Minnesota with a full day of hockey programming, including five telecasts of games taking place at three separate locations on Saturday, January 23, 2010. The announcement was made Monday morning at Hermantown High School.
Hockey Day Minnesota 2010 on Fox Sports North will include over 16 hours of local hockey-related programming designed as a celebration of the game from peewees to pros. The city of Hermantown will serve as the background for the three high school games featured in the Hockey Day Minnesota 2010 line up.
Hockey Day Minnesota coverage will also include a Minnesota Wild game from Xcel Energy Center, as well as the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers against the St. Cloud State Huskies. A complete list of games and programming schedule will be released at a later date.
Outdoor Games at Hermantown High School Football Field
10:00 a.m. Hopkins/Duluth-Marshall (boys)
1:30 p.m. Eden Prairie/Hermantown (boys)
4:30 p.m. Duluth/Hermantown (girls)
According to Nielsen Media Research, FOX Sports North received top ratings for their coverage of Hockey Day Minnesota 2009, including record-breaking ratings during the first hour of Hockey Day programming and their highest-rated high school hockey and Gopher game of the season. The day-long event included over 20 hours of hockey-related programming, seven games from five locations and required over 100 FOX Sports North employees. The regional network balanced three production trucks stationed at Phalen Park, Xcel Energy Center and the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, a total of 20 cameras, seven on-air reporters and ten play-by-play/game analyst duos throughout the day.

This has been a huge hit and FSN should be congradulated for all the time they put into making it a huge success. Should be another great season of games on FSN. BTW..schedule should be released early November as they have just started contacting schools athletic directors.

I believe I heard kevin Gorg on KFAN radio today saay they are broadcasting 26 games this year, which is outstanding. Many days with two games, but that also includes some girls games, I believe.

Actually, that has been changed. The games these two teams will play are:
Jan 9, 3:00: Grand Rapids @ Duluth Marshall, Mars Lakeview Arena
Jan 9, 2:30: Lakeville North @ Bloomington Jefferson, Bloomington Ice Garden

It might have something to do with the new Athletic Director for Grand Rapids.

New AD? Where did the last one go? Just saw him at a school event - acting every bit the AD - in the last week.

Well this AD didn't even get a home football game on homecoming. I'm not a fan.

FSN has done an awesome job showing different schools every year. the only complaint i have for them is to get rid of Kevin Gorg! he knows very little about hs hockey nowadays..he's too busy following the wild!

Never understand the facination with Hopkins and now with the players they've lost ...

Not sure you can blame this one on the AD. There might be other circumstances that bounced the game with Jefferson. 'ChrisK' can square us away hopefully.

I'm wondering if travel costs were considered and are the main issue in the schedule change?

When does the star studded schedule come out? Are we working around Gorg's schedule? fire gorg! My vote is Sarsland behind the mike when schedule allows. He can rip on the rodents while he gives the hockey rubes much to chuckle about over the FSN airwaves.

I agree, put Sarsland in front of the tube every night. He's not afraid to spek his mind!

Hopkins has played home and away against Hermantown for the last several years, and I assume this game was simply part of that, with the outdoor twist. Hopkins is one of the metro teams still willing and able (financially) to travel up north for games, and their coach is originally from the Two Harbors area, I believe. The FSN involvement has more to do with the outdoors factor than with the team, I think.
