I assume that both Duluth teams are playing for free. Now that leaves 6 teams @ $1000.00 each total at 6000.00, wow that's alot of money. For each other team, their paying 250.00 per game. Sounds like the association are looking to make alot of money :)

Field is complete:Duluth East, Duluth Lakers, Chaska, Eden Prairie, Edina, Thunder Bay Kings, Forest Lake & Cloquet. I suppose you could look at it as $650 w/ a prepaid gate of $350 per team if you want. That puts it in line with other tourneys that charge $15-$20 per family at the door. Just saying.

4 games and no entry fee....

seems high....

17 familes at $20 = $340
4 games with ice at $150 per hr (1 1/2 hrs), refs & emts say $75
times 1/2 = $600,
$940 for the tourney...

Dang duluth people rippin' everybody off.

Now if you come to Bemidji or D16...

ice cost $80 per hour or less
refs & emts $40 per game

How about $600, that sound better.

Not knocking Duluth or anyone else...
but we have a good product and can give it to you cheaper....

price of gas $2.50 per gallon - 225 miles at 20 miles per gallon say $60, rooms around $80....

time - three hours from Rogers to Bemidji.

For a 3 game tourney you can leave Sat morning...
play 2 and then one on Sunday and be home for a 6:30 dinner with the rest of the family....

come to the great northwest....

I do agree tourneys are getting way out of control as for money wise, Duluth is not the only to charge this, they just take it up front. Edina and Eden prairie both charge 725 for the tourney, and never been to either place where they do not charge a gate fee. 17 parents at $20 a pop equals $340, add tourney fee and there is $1065.

If you are ever going to try and think youth hockey is financially feasible then "hang it up". I love it and pay dearly for it and do not regret the cost. But looking at it from a financial side --- its tough to stomach! But we all are into it and that's why we read and write here!

So pay the fee and enjoy- it will all be over faster than we think and we will all wish we had a gate fee to pay!!!

I damn near fell over reading your reply! I was just adding a lil humor into your previous post. There is alot of history up in those neck of the woods and it would be enjoyable just to spend a day or two visiting these area's. Great hockey players have been produced in these hockey towns. My boys would get a kick out of seeing where the Brotens, Boucha and of course the late George Pelawa played when they were younger. Outdoor rinks!! Thanks

I can shoot a buck out of my backdoor...
gut it out,
and have our guests over to tour the new Event Center (BSU rink) in 20 minutes... or so.
