Unless something has changed in the last month, Faribault will not have a 14UA team this year. They planned to move them up to JV this year according to an inside source.

Rochester will complete 14U tryouts tomorrow. We will have an A and a B team.

Mark, Great information. We'll have our work cut out for us.

If you have info for 14UB would you post it in the 14UB thread?

I just heard Burnsville is fielding only a 14UB team this year. Did most of last year's 12UA's move up to JV/HS?

I think Faribault also now has a 14UA team in D6.

Yes that is the case. A number of girls have been pulled up to the JV/V level. We will only have a U14B team.

How were they pulled up to JV/V when tryouts aren't until November 2nd?

Faribault had planned a JV but their school board rejected it for financial reasons. They will play 14UB.

An insightful high school coach will work with the association to manage numbers at both levels for the benefit of both programs. The HS coach will have a pretty good idea of how many (but not always which) players are needed for V/JV and that helps steer the 14U planning of the association.

At least that's how it should work... :)

However, it's allegations of team fixing before tryouts that causes many HS coaches to steer clear of these cooperative discussions. And that is what screws up 14U for the people trying to manage their numbers.

The Faribault coaches are very involved (meaning positive) with their youth program. Their intent was to do the JV instead of 14U. Due the the economy, the school district was not in a position to start JV so they will have a 14U team instead. In no way are their coaches attempting to screw up 14U.

Sorry...next time i'll use the quote. I was referring to the Burnsville post.

I agree about insightful coaches working with a program to try and create the best possible scenerio at U14. It's a must in girl's hockey. I don't agree when that information or alleged information is being posted on a public forum.
