Greenway 2009-10 Season

Looks like Greenway will have a high school team this year. However, it appears their schedule will look more like a first year program than their usual competitive one. Several IRC teams have cancelled games with Greenway and currently they only have 12 games scheduled with hope of scheduling between 16 and 20 games. No official word on a coach but it looks like Pat Guyer will be trying to resurrect this once proud program.

It's a bit sad that this represents good news for Greenway hockey, but that's definitely what it is.
Good luck to Mr. Guyer and the boys up in Coleraine--they're going to need it.

greenway1969,
I am pretty sure that greenway high school pulled out of the scheduled IRC games not the other way around. Anyway you slice it they have huge problems in that program with many defections simply because the program can no longer compete at the level it once did. School district problems on top of defections of talented players both youth and high school.

He's staying loyal to where he has played his entire hockey career. He's good enough to be spotted and already has been. Give the kid credit for staying put, enjoying his family and friends and showing true loyalty.

Their schedule will look very different. Bagley will now be their biggest rival.

I wouldn't bank on it being "young" Orhn's decision to leave Greenway to play juniors and head to Iowa. Another one of those sad stories, when dad is trying to make his kid what he wasn't; and not looking at what his kid wants. Hope in the end, the kid is happy; and the family doesn't regret losing that time with him. The Greenway kids will miss their friend, but not the "hot head" in the stands!

I get a kick out of some posters telling others that they should support Greenway when one of the posters, ND Fighting Irish, still lives in Greenway but sent his kids to Grand Rapids and play for Grand Rapids. That is so hypocritical.

I'll be seeing Greenway plan on Saturday versus Henry Sibley. I'm anxious to see them and get some informatin on how things are going. Looks like Duluth Central handled them rather easily.

so.... if you move out of state (possibly for college), that means you have to update your "location" immediately?

There is no doubt Greenway is going to have a rough season. What I'm more interested in is the attitude of the players, parents, and fans. I know Coach Lawson was liked when he coached at the youth level, so it will be interesting to find out as the season progesses what the opinion of the Raider faithful is.
