Anyone know who will be playing in goal for WBL?

Rumors floating around that he was declared ineligible, but he informed that they arn't true. Not sure if that means he is eligible, or if they just haven't come to a conclusion yet.

With the goalies listed on the roster... Schletty and Jordan? Or Sampair as well?

Sampair is ineligible to practice.
Really? So does that mean he has to find a new team, or are they still waiting?

The MSHSL cannot make comments on this due to data privacy acts.

My understanding is that Sampair transferred to, I believe, Middleton school, in Madison, Wisc, in Sept, while his parents did not move. He started playing hockey in the 2009-10 season for the U18 Midget team, the Madison Capitals. This is a voluntary transfer. Does not involve family moves, hardship, custody.

http://www.pointstreak.com/players/play ... sonid=4364

It is believed he was cut from the team based on his performance, as the stats indicated. Even though he played just two games, he was ranked 59th out of 59 goalies in that league.

He then enrolled in WBL Nov 10th, past mid-term and one week before tryouts. The fact that he left Hill for Madison, indicates his transfer was for hockey purposes, and the fact he left Middleton to come back to Minnesota was for hockey purposes. WBL is his third school in 5 months, second in two months. The fact he enrolled Nov 10th is also the issue. Had he enrolled in Sept, there would have not been issues.

After all, this is what transfer rules are set-up to discourage - to leave a Minnesota HS team, because you are displeased with your playing time, transfer to Wis and then back to Minnesota. Sampair was active in capt practices prior to enrollment. So it is safe to say it's been three weeks since his eligibility has been in question. The MSHSL is making sure that it does not create precedent that basically would mean you might as well throw out all transfer rules then.

Sampair is a senior, which complicated this mess, otherwise, he would have been allowed to play JV without question.

The "rumor" posted on the other thread was that Sampair was playing Junior hockey for the Minnesota Wildcats, although, that is still unknown. In a private message to Barry McConnell who posted this "rumor", Barry would not disclose to me who he is or what relationship he has to the HS program, but he informed me it was stated by Sager himself.

Keep in mind, there are no rights to playing high school hockey. It is a privilege.

These are the facts to the best of my knowledge, and I offer no personal opinions.

Without having Karl or Mitch locking this post so we can update the scores, let's just let the Sampair discussion end right here without any further comments, unless constructed with courtesy. At this point, he is ruled ineligible.

White Bear should be able to handle Rochester pretty easily. However White Bear's goaltending is nothing from what it has been in the previous years. Rochester should be able to net 2 or 3 on the inexperienced White Bear goalies. WB defense also lost a few players. Gjerde and Loesch are going to have to step up big and help develop these new guys. If they want to win, WB will need to have strong D to prevent too many shots on the new goalies. Also, WB's top offensive lines have to find a way to put some shots in the net.

Despite the inexperience, I see WB pulling a 6-3 victory.

Their is a possibility Gjerde could be out with chest issues due to illness.

I could be wrong, and he could be out there tonight. But if not look for Loesch and the freshman Carney on the top D line tonight.

EDIT: 6-2 WB.

Let's add more to the mystery. Gjerde reportedly is on the shelf for another week with an upper body injury. He did not practice all week, unless he did Friday. Loesch and Ben Clark are the only returning defensmen that have logged significant time. Matt Glasgow may be a game-time decision, as he is returning from an upper-body injury, too. Glasgow did log some decent minutes last year.

I believe WBL, ranked 13th by Followthepuck.com, will also be without senior Justin Hauswirth (hand).

With the inexperience and a lack of a couple of key seniors, WBL cannot afford to take penalties. As one posted the comments that Rochester is improved, this doesn't appear to be the cake-walk WBL had a year ago in a 7-1 win.

Century is ranked 20th by FollowthePuck.com, and had quality wins a year ago versus Tartan, Duluth East and Lakeville North, enroute to advancing to the state tourney. Century won 12 of it's last 14 games before hitting state. Century did graduate some key players.

WBL's line of Wahlin, Birkinbine and Wolter may just be enough to score 5 goals itself for the victory, but I would not be surprised to see a Century victory.

Your wisdom astounds me as always sir.

Mnhock - it will be more important to eliminate the QUALITY of shots. If the Bears do not protect the defensive end, it is quite possible turnovers will result in goals. It is not inconceivable to see 4 goals in 15 shots. The Bears will have to force shots outside the triangle that signifies the "scoring chance" range. If the Bears allow too many scoring chances, goals will be scored off rebounds.

And OH.. wblhockeyfan8..... this isn't rocket science!!!

Don't get sassy on me Tus.

You just seem to always have your knowledge and thoughts very well organized. So perhaps you have an answer to my netminder question? 8)
