I happen to know a 25 yr old that began his skating some 20 yrs ago in the same town that this coach resided at the time. I have to believe this will all turn out to be absolutely ZERO. Nothing but the utmost respect to you, Coach!
Too bad "a few" posters didn't have the same attitude and respecting the hard work players and coaches put in before jumping to conclusions.

Puckguy, don't worry; any allegations of a negative nature without verifiable evidence will cause the post to be deleted and the poster subject to banning.

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005

Feel bad for the guy, he is a great coach. I think we should all wait and see what comes out before we all pass judgement.

I know nothing about what happened with the coach, but keep in mind how the school district overreacted with the "hazing" incident! They lost their credibility with me on that.

Because unlike this incident, we were given the facts on the hazing deal, if you can call it that.

There is a reason the school isn't commenting. I don't know any of the specifics of this case, but under state law, if there is an allegation against a teacher, they put the teacher on paid administrative leave while an investigation takes place. The district is not allowed to talk about the nature of the allegation. Once the investigation is complete, the district decides if disciplinary action is appropriate. If action is taken, the teacher has the right to appeal. The district cannot give out information on the allegation until the disciplinary action is final, that is, once the teacher has either waved an appeal or exhausted all of his options for appeal.

To comment or give details before the disciplinary action is final would be a violation of the state's data privacy act.

And that is the right way to handle it.
My point was that we should not rush to judgement based on prior actions by this school district. Once the we know what is going on and can all hear what happened from BOTH SIDES, we can really know what to think.

hope it is nothing serious and is over soon. the kids don't need the distraction. if it is anything serious and there are suspensions etc., the kids are the ones who lose. remember - sports are for the kids.

Sorry, but what happened was considered hazing. Now of course none of us know all the facts, and that is the problem with personal opinions, facts are left out. But, if these girls were "kidnapped" by team members, even if parents knew, and then tapes up then it can be construed as hazing. In which case they should be punished. Did B'ville act wrong, no if someone would have gotten hurt then someone would need to be held responsible. I am a parent and if my kid was "kidnapped" and taken somewhere and taped to a chair and got hurt. I do not think I would even hesitate to clubbing the parents that allowed this. Of course then I would be wrong, and I would be able to be arressted and charged.
B'ville did what they felt was right for the district.
Just my Opinion....
________________________________
Academy of Holy Angels
2005 GIRLS STATE CHAMPS!
2002 & 2005 BOYS STATE CHAMPS!!
GO STARS!!

Hazing Against MSHSL Rules

The MSHL form that players have to sign to participate in high school sports, specifically says that hazing is not allowed. The school had to react with disciplinary action or not comply to the MSHL rules.

Why is it considered hazing in Burnsville, but not in Eden Prairie? A couple of years ago the EP boys varsity kidnapped a kid and left him blindfolded in the middle of the median on 494, nothing was done to those players.

I'm not saying the B'ville situation wasn't, I'm not saying it was, I just think there needs to be some consistency on this topic other than one Activities Director is more PC than the other.

Blackeye,

I think it may be a question of whether or not the EP situation was reported to the administration or a complaint was registered by a parent or player. I am aware of hazing-type incidents at many schools, but unless they are reported to the administration in the form of a complaint, it is unlikely any action will be taken.

Most schools receving a complaint of any type that relates to hazing or something that approaches hazing will investigate and act quickly. No one wants to be part of a channel 9 undercover expose.

blackeye. to top off matters the kid, who was left taped up in his underwear and left on the road, was cut from the team. the players did not like the kid and apparently neither did the wilmar flash aka lee smith. great uh?

burnsville is so messed up..
there is not consistancy and thats what it unfortunate..
im on the hockey team and i being a "kidnapee" dont think anything went wrong.. and the parent who complained.. didnt really complain.. he wanted coach to be AWARE.. and then coach took it to admin.. because he's obligated.. thats where admin blew it WAYYY out of porportion..

words directly from our principle kay joyce..

"i am aware other groups do it but noone has complained"

so when you hear things like that.. and then you read our hand book that has ZERO TOLERANCE..

there really is not a zero tolerance..
its.. its okay.. until somone complains..
