Edina played better against Rapids, I wouldn't say that about the ER games. Edina was kinda sloppy, especially in the first. If Edina were to win I would guess it'd be like a 2-1 game or something like that. EP has great talent at D and goalie, they just aren't executing on the offensive end like they should.goaliewithfoggedglasses wrote:Edina looked better against both of the common opponents this tournament. I say Edina 4 - 2.
We need to start getting Channel 45 on the TV board to start televising games like this.HockeyMN1 wrote:Edina played better against Rapids, I wouldn't say that about the ER games. Just go if you are in the area, you won't regret it. Trust me, the students from these schools HATE each other so it's always a fun game.Goldfishdude wrote:We need to start getting Channel 45 on the TV board to start televising games like this.HockeyMN1 wrote:Edina played better against Rapids, I wouldn't say that about the ER games. Fair and accurate account of the game from my perspective as an EP backer.Papa Bergundy wrote:Edina won 5-3. Great game, Edina carried a 3-0 lead in to the third and dominated most of the play. EP clawed back to 4-3 on a 6 on 5 goal with 1:30 to play. The next center ice faceoff with Ford back in net Edina scored about 10 seconds later on a nice backdoor pass.
EP was outworked the first two periods, and really didn't come alive till their first goal. Edina flat out wanted it more.
Kyle Rau was a disappointment tonight, or should I say the ghost of Rau, he was invisible tonight. The only time I noticed him was whining to the officials after the whistle. Grow up kid.
All in all I think it says more about Edina than EP. EP didn't play their best game and it showed, but Edina proved they were a legitimate contender tonight with a gutsy performance. Loved it.
Wait a darn tooting minute here!! Are you suggesting Coach Giles has his players overachieving here, and is actually coaching versus letting his players go after the puck gets dropped????????gribble wrote:I thought Rau had two assists? One he just picked an Edina defenseman's pocket behind the net, made a nice move and beautiful feed out front for a wide open shot... Thought he had a shot on net where the rebound got put-back too...
Edina is really laying it out there. They don't have the talent they've had in years past, but they're playing physical and almost every guy on that team is playing like he's got something to prove. The way they get to the puck and finish the hit definitely makes you think they want it bad. But so far that's how they've played every game this year. Unless they lose that edge, and competitveness, they're gonna surprise alot of teams this year.
EP looked flat the first two periods. They had a couple scoring chances early that didn't convert, but Edina was playing in the offensive zone putting on a fore-checking clinic. EP had a lot of defensive miscues. I can't even count the number of two-on-ones or one-on-0s that Edina had because an EP defender misplayed a puck. EP has a lot of good skaters, good stick handlers. But they really weren't mentally prepared tonight...
He did struggle in the first two, but so did the entire team. They weren't ready to play, let in a few goals that could have been prevented throughout the course of the game that really changed the outcome.keepyourheadup wrote:Interesting perspective on Kyle Rau's play. I watched only the third period and he was hands down the best player on the ice. Must have struggled the first two periods because he was dominant in the third. I'd take the ghost of Rau on my team in a heart beat.
Youre right I was a little harsh on Rau. I just know he's much more capable of how he played last night, and 11 goals in the 4 previous games had me anticipating a memorable performance.keepyourheadup wrote:Interesting perspective on Kyle Rau's play.
