Not sure how a thread on this one hasn't been created yet. Big matchup tomorrow between two unbeaten teams. Game is at 7:30 and is on FSN. Thoughts?
I'll take Tonka 4-1

Interesting matchup. I think Minnetonka should match up their two big D against Bjugstad. They need to hit him and try to take him off his game.
I like Minnetonka in this one by a goal.

Good luck Blaine! STA couldn't hold them back... and I just found out they were down one of their top D-men...

As T.O. would say, grab your popcorn for this one. I will go with the home team with Bjugstad leading the way.
Blaine - 4 (en)
Tonka - 2

These teams seem pretty even on paper, and when the game looks like it could be a tossup you gotta go with the team who has home ice advantage.
Blaine 4 - Tonka 3
should be a lot of fun to watch

Tonka by at least 2 - Bjugstad is great, but Tonka forwards will prove too much for Blaine D.
But, I could be wrong. Will be watching on FSN, no doubt.

its definitely within the realm of possibility that Blaine could win, but Minnetonka is absolutely stacked.
Minnetonka -- 5
Blaine -- 2

I really hope my Bengals can pull this one out but it will take the rest of the team stepping up to help Bjugstad. The D needs to really tighten up and not make the mistakes they made against Roseau and Osseo. They had some very big turnovers that led to goals. Harper also needs to come up big.

Unfortunately, the only player that gets chatted about is Bjugstad for Blaine. I would assume he has a support group to help.
St. Thomas Academy really seems to have some depth and, yes, it hurt that Isaackson left the game for STA, but it appeared that Minnetonka dominated the final two periods, because of its depth.... Freshman Coates came up big versus #1 ranked Class A team STA, and I feel as though Tonka has the type of team that they have the capacity to have a different guy step up each game.
It only takes one of the talented Tonka players to shawdow Bjugstad, and still leave plenty for offensive fire-power, and Tonka answers defensively with one of the metro's leading goalie save percentage leaders.
It should be entertaining, but I give Tonka the 4-2 edge.

I can't believe that no one has talked about the tenders for both teams, Danny Harper and Jim Kruger. Both played in Elite in the fall and have been on varsity for 3 years now. IMO, two of the top tendies in the metro. I expect them to step up big and make it a goaltender duel.
I'll take Tonka-2 Blaine-1

Minnetonka 7
Blaine 4
In my opinion (not that IMO stuff), Goaltending will be a non-factor.

Ahhhhh.. I did mention Kruger, in being one of the metros leading goalies in save%... he gave up two goals versus a talented STA....... and I think STA has more firepower..
I have seen games where Minnesota Gopher recruit Adam Wilcox has given up 4 goals vs Hill Murray and Mahtomedi... and North Dakota recruit Gothberg from Theif River give up 6 goals versus Roseau. And Harper has given up 4 goals versus Roseau.
Harper has a GAA 2.67 and a save % of .907.
Not going to say that Harper and Kruger won't be very effective, but it all boils down to how the boys play in front of them, eh????
Bjugstads stats are mind-boggling. Combined with Johnny Brodzinski, the two Blaine stars almost have as many points as the rest of Blaine's team combined... (36-42)....
Kruger, on the other hand, has only given up 3 goals in 5 games (2 vs STA) AND Tonka has scored 6, 9, 8, 7, 9 and 5 goals in their games...
A 2-1 game would reflect how good these goaltenders are, but it wouldn't shock me if it were 2-1 after period 1.

5 - 3 Blaine over Tonka with an Empty Netter.
I feel that they will hold Bjugstad to 1 goal, but Brodzinski and other teammates will come up big and Bjugstad will feed his teammates the whole night. Im hoping to see a great fight between 2 great teams
