I just came across this website. It is awesome!!!
I have a feeling I will be checking this site out alot, so thought I would introduce myself.

I grew up in Grand Forks ND. Moved to MN a couple of years ago. I am now living in Southern MN. I travel up North about 2-3 times a year to catch a couple of REAL hockey games. Although, I must say that I did go to a game in Rochester last week between RedWing and Rochester Lourdes. Both of those teams are pretty good highschool teams. Like I said, I do go up North a couple of times a year just so I can get my "fix" of REAL hockey though...

<img src=

I have not seen alot of hockey down here. But both of those teams were decent hockey teams I thought. How do they compare to the City teams?

Go check out the "hockey scores by teams" and see how they've done. Lourdes lost ot Blake in OT, Lost to STA, Red Wing has beaten Blake and Breck and tied STA. Not too bad for southern teams

Yeah...take some time and navigae through everything...it does have a lot of info, past, present and some future...enjoy
By the way, any teams/games in particular that you typically go north to watch?

When you say up north, do you mean the Grand Forks area? Or the Iron Range? Is that where they play "REAL" Hockey?

By the way, last year in the state tournament Albert Lea (about as south as you can get) beat the tar out of Virginia (considered pretty far north in most people's book).

good call I35...over the past couple seasons, there's been other examples of the South beating the North...just can't think of them right now.
I think Mayo and JM do ok against Hibbing and someone else up their each year.
Lourdes beat Hibbing in the first round of the state tourney a couple yrs ago

I usually go up and check out a Warroad game and even a Moorhead game if I can. But usually at least one Warroad game a year. Also I like to get to a Roseau game every year. Virginia is up North but they are not one of the better high school teams from the North. I see that they had a couple of good players last year. Niskanen was a great and is a great player.

<img src=

southern teams

Jm is undeafeted, red wing is 3rd in state, century was pretty dam good with kangas last year "best goalie in the state", and canzanello (incredible) and the mayo squad can hold their own. Not to mention Albert Lea last year got consolation in state and only lost to warroad "the champions".

If you think REAL hockey is only up north and in the cities think again. Sure there are elite teams every year that come from up there (BJ, WBL, DE, AHA), but that is only due to recriuting and transfering schools. Not to mention the countless inner city teams that are dog @#%$ "pretty much jv squads" right on their door step. If you like home rivalries and teams that believe in what they play for along sticking to their guns, don't go up there for the answer. If rochester didn't have to support four teams with players every year they would make a run at the state championship title annualy. All I am saying is that I am sick of city and private teams ripping on others just becasue they don't cheat to get the advantage over others. If everyone stuck to their guns it would make Mn hockey much better. And dont say it is not REAL hockey down here if you have no clue what is going on behind the scenes.<img src=

To all the Northern MN boys on here. I think I hit a sore subject???? I did not mean anything bad by my comments. All I said is that I was not sure about southern MN hockey. Just becasue I grew up watching the Roseau, Warroad and Moorheads in the 80's, 90's and later. Like I said, I did not mean anything by it. Just looking for some info. regarding Southern MN hockey.

<img src=

The bluesman's offer is generous indeed.

However, at the risk of being presumptious (as if that has ever stopped me), let me suggest that you swim over to the cafe and click the thread entitled "Hi Im new How do you play"

On page one there is a post that contains a top ten list to quide you. I am sure some of the other fine posters can add to it.

I would do a link here but I dont know how.

Edited by: <A HREF=

What out Mr. Belivieu

Can you say trojan horse, bluesbuddy? If there are sharks in these waters, you are a tiger. One has to watch his back on this fine forum, Jean, as some of these folks patrolling these waters won't think twice about sticking a dagger in it! Glad to hear you appreciate the "real hockey" played in the North. Also, you must be a former viewer of "Hockey Night in Canada" and the "Flying Frenchman" by the moniker you have chosen. Welcome aboard.
