Any thoughts on how M8 is shaping up?

Buffalo or Rogers will win the 8....unless they stumble but I don't see any other teams competing for it. Unless CI or Princeton get hot...other then that its a two horse race with CI the dark horse.

i don't know how you can call CI a dark horse anymore they have proved themselves in 8 with a tie against rogers. they are now a favorite. i will take CI or Rogers to take the M8 title. If you don't believe me, CI vs. Buff next Saturday

Cambridge better not look past St. Michael Thursday though. Buffalo is Saturday.

A little surprised Rogers beat Princeton 7-1 today.

Anyone have St. Michael/ Monticello score?

o i agree i didn't see that game on the cambridge schedule but now i do. that should also be an interesting game. i don't know what happened to princeton against roger, i thought they were a better team then that.

I don't see Rogers losing more than two, so Cambridge might have to win out or at least not lose more than one more. Definitely need to beat Rogers at their arena.

I heard some Cambridge players had to sit the St. Michael game. Explains the loss. Nice to see them come right back against Buffalo who they have always struggled with.

Two had to sit out a period each is all. Not the reason they lost.

they also had an injury in the second to their top liner, he was out for the rest of the game. so its surprising they made a game out of it.

Seeing as how Rogers only has Becker left in the first half of the conference schedule they would be hard pressed to lose two games. Rogers has not lost a game yet and I do not see them falling twice in the 2nd half of the conference schedule. The only two teams they play away from home are Princeton and STMA both of which they beat 7-1. Now it has been a topsy tervy year for the Royals, but I expect them to really be on their game the rest of the conference schedule. We will see though that is why they play the games.

I think Princeton will beat Rogers tonight. Princeton has a lot of talent on that first line. Whichever goalie they play needs to have a decent game as well.

did they not play in the first game or something they were beat 7-1.

I agree that Princeton has been underperforming all year but I think they can upset some teams, including Rogers.

you may be correct as I heard the score was only 2-1 after 2 for Rogers. I am not very hungry but I might have to eat crow.

I was not at the game last night just curious how legit the penalties were at the end of the game that allowed princeton to have a five on three. I guess a six on three since they pulled their goalie. I have not checked to see if the score sheet has been posted to see if this was a penalty filled game or the whistles were pulled out at the end. I guess it does not matter though Princeton did what they had to do with the opportunity.

Don't know about the penalties but surprised Princeton beat Rogers. I expect rogers to still win the conference. STMA beat Buffalo 3-0 and now goes to Princeton tonight. Princeton should have beat Buffalo last week as it blew a 4 goal lead in third period and lost in OT. No clear team to beat here as all can beat each other. I still think Rogers will win conference.

Looks like Cambridge and Rogers both won again tonight, so they are both sitting with one loss in the conference (though CI has 1 tie and Rogers has two).

So should make Saturdays matchup between the two interesting at Rogers.

Looks like C-I's chances went bye bye . Any chance in the future looks bleek with very little talent after this group. I can see why most of the younger talent bailed when they could. The Mississipi 8 will have fun with this red headed stepchild in the future.

So Buffalo beat Rogers tonight. Makes things interesting. It really is going to come down to who wins the rest of their games, right?

Rogers is 5-2-2 w/ 2 conference games left
Cambridge is 5-2-1 w/ 4 to go.
Buffalo is 5-4-0 w/ 3 to go.
Princeton 4-3-1 w/ 3 to go.
Monticello 3-3-2 w/ 3 to go.
St. Michael 3-4-0 w/ 4 to go.

There is a difference in the # of conference games. Rogers, Princeton, Monti, & St. Michael will only have 11 total. Buffalo & Cambridge will have 12.

So say Rogers and Cambridge win the rest of their games, does it go by points or by winning percentage in conference? Anyway, it will be fun to see all these games matter right to the end.

I don't get why on the MNHockey Hub site they have Cambridge in third...how is the point system working on that site....is it an error.

Cambridge is in the drivers seat if they were to win out. The teams with 11 conference games only played Becker once making that game a 4 point game.

The only thing I find interesting about this conference this year is how many teams do not show up to play everynight. I think the conference championship should go to Becker they are at least consistent. The team never wins they do not have their own arena, they travel all over just to practice yet they still show up at their games. I must say to go through what they go through year in and year out they hands down have more heart than any other team in the M8 this year.

I watched the Rogers Buffalo game how brutal is that goaltending from both teams wow I think there was 1 quality goal out of the 7. Can we use a beach ball
To all those who have to play buffalo yet watch their coaches strategy to rest his players he argues every call and every goal and the way the zambini driver does his job. I watched him during both timeouts and gained his team an extra minute of rest by standing on the ice. I give him cudos for that, but the refs should be calling delay of game penalties

There has been a lot of talk about C-I (Steelheader). Truth is they are no better than last year the Mississippi 8 is just down. The 4-3 loss to Princeton gives them no chance this year and the next 10 years look brutal. Just wanted to put a real "PERSPECTIVE'" on this program. I fight fire with fire

I understand you are very angry about Cambridge beating North Branch 9-2, but if you look back through this thread I never talked up Cambridge. The team I said to watch out for is Princeton.

The conference has never been great. But I don't think you really want to talk about conference strength (Two Rivers  ), now do you?
