I am not sure it matters too much if he got dinged up a bit, because I THINK he is going on vacation for a couple weeks starting today.

No pushishment given out yet. All three big dogs were there with one getting 4 points which included a hat trick. Interesting timing to serve the minors. Centennial this weekend. Don't skate short until Andover, Coon Rapids, Osseo, and Anoka. My money's on Andover and Osseo to give them a couple losses.
This is why I stated I THINK he is getting a vacation. Bjuggie had a hat trick that game.

HockeyStud: Considering this was the second post on the forum, i considered i would ask about because it was information about Bjugstad and some other Blaine kids that I did not know, from what I hear there may be minors being served and that is why I was curious.
I did not mean a
MINOR penalty because I do understand the game and I realize he is the one that was hit.

back to the hit -
Bjugstad took a hard and clean blindside hit from Flynn in early OT and and ended up on his back. Flynn then dropped and crosschecked him hard into his helmet. Nick ended up getting a couple minor cuts from his facemask and did not return to the game. Flynn should have gotten a 5 and 10. No penalty was called.
The replay on the cable broadcast shows it clearly.

Flynn's a big boy, from what I remember from JV last year. He might be about one of the few that could deliver any type of hit, clean or cheap, to hurt Bjuggie.

Clearly hockeystud is a blaine guy..nice loaded statement.

If it was that vicious centennial would have received at least a two minute don't you think? Bjugstad has a history of concussions so play at your own risk. I'm guessing Blaine didn't hit a guy all night in one of the biggest rivalries in the state. By the way he is the best actor as well as hockey player also.

you can watch it here and decide for yourself.. click (view) next to the blaine centennial boys hockey game link to watch the game on WMV. The hit happens at about 1:58:48
This is coming from a Blaine fan, the check was clean and the replay shows that flynn actually lost his stick, so the "cheap" shot was actually him going back to get his stick. It may look a little bit like he threw an extra shove but its really hard to tell.

Thanks for that link, I think this will clear up everything. How can this be called a cheap shot? Bjugstad should be called for the cheap shot. He's the one who ran over the goalie. Yes, the Centennial player did hit Bjugstad a little bit excessively but that is a little extra for hitting his goalie. You must not have been at that game, or you were eating your popcorn when Bjugstad plowed the goalie.

Have to laugh at the irony here - Bjugstad is bigger than 95% of the players on the ice, and someone complains about him suffering from a cheap shot? You run the goalie, you're gonna get hit.
Maybe he should keep his head up.

i don't think he did anything wrong running the goalie over also the hit looks line to me.

Well apparently your 2 cents isn't worth even half that if you have morphed a great check into "a 5 and a 10". C'mon man its hockey! I'd be surprised if Bjugstad would think there was anything wrong with that hit. And likewise, he did not "plow" the goalie, as someone else alluded. He made a great move to put the puck away and the goalie made 2 great saves. Looked like great hockey from my objective point of view. If you have a problem with either play you may want to search for the thread someone started a while back about making Boys HS Hockey "No Check"...HELLO!!!

I think the concern here is that he has had some concussion problem in past as a bantam or so i was told by a parent I know who has kid on the team.
It happens. When I went back home to help with the broadcast the Warroad at Roseau game there were hits like this throughout the game. Some a lot bigger and maybe cheaper that this one I saw at the game Sat. A kid even had his kidney punctured in the 1st and played til the 3rd from a hard hit. Call that tough or stupid I dunno. But hard hits are part of the game.
As an elite player you are going to be prone to incidents such as this one. You have a big red X on your jersey so IMO you just have to keep your head up a little more in a game such as this one because you are target and subject to a little extra. Given this is a huge rivalry game juices flow a little extra and sometimes comes out in manner on ice that we as broadcasters and fans dont like to see. But its hockey!!!!
