I know there are many opportunities for gals to get ice time in the summer. OCDP, OS, etc ... I'm wondering how a player might get involved with a team to get some game/scrimmage time in. What teams are out there? I know there are a few. How do gals get on the team? Tryout? Invite? Know someone? The player is currently a junior. ('93)

Don't read into the lack of response. You can get into OS Hockey by signing up. The coaching staff will evaluate your daughter's skill level and place her in the program which best meets her needs. I do not have the web address off hand, but you can get it via google.

CADP has been a little bit more selective in the past, as everyone must try-out to obtain a spot. However, in recent years, they have added levels so it is not clear if anyone gets turned away. I'm not sure where their web-site is anymore, but the program is run by Breck's head coach.

AAA teams are typically formed on a "who you know" basis, although many teams do advertise for players in LPH and hold try-outs.

There have also been previous posts on this forum advertising new teams looking for players. Keep your eye out.

When we were trying to figure out what to do for summer training for our daughter some years back, a wise gentleman once advised me that it is what you do in the off season that determines what kind of player you will be. The season is for playing games (ie showing what you can do) and the off season is for developing those skills. Most programs include some scrimmage-game time, but the focus is on development. This gentleman now has two daughters playing D1, so I'm thinking it was pretty good advice.
