It's different for each section, though most will be this Sunday, I believe. Obviously the sections that have playoff games on Saturday will meet sometime this week.

What are these meetings like? What do the coaches do? Do they discuss their seasons and games and come to a mutual decision or is it a blind voting, or what is the process?

I think most of the outstate sections vote for seeding by email. It cuts down on the mileage costs schools have to pay.

Typically; the coaches all get together and chat like they actually like each other. Then they give their season summary and try to tell everyone what seed they should be and why. After that they all vote for every team (except their own) Someone then takes all the tallies and it is released to the coaches what seed they are, and who voted which way. They then get a chance to appeal if they don't like their seed. Everyone votes on the appeal and they move on. There are always the coaches that try to low ball a particular team because of personal reasons. (This usually leads to some "heated" conversations) It usually ends in at least two coaches feeling like they got the shaft, and two coaches happy that they are seeded higher then they should have been.

I just saw this. Anyone else as surprised as me that Roseau is ahead of Brainerd, despite Brainerd beating the Rams the one time they played this year. Roseau also lost to Tech recently. I think this is very unfortunate personally.
Don't need another post; how are ties handled?

I guess it hardly matters because if your second or third you still play each other in the semi's. it just matters if you would rather play buffalo or monticello

In a section where the game is on neutral ice, which is what I thought too, you would be right. But this game will be played in Roseau, which is what disappoints me. Outside of beating Moorhead, there isn't much more Brainerd could've done here either.

In talking with most of the coaches I am not surprised at all.
The top 4 teams' coaches all think anyone of the top 4 could win this.

elliot, what are your thoughts?
I agree, any one of the top 4
could win this, although, I would say the top 3 have a much better shot. All three are pretty equal with a slight edge going to Moorhead. So getting #2 over #3 is huge here.

Brainerd got screwed, plain and simple. Brainerd beat Roseau head to head and only lost 2 section games, both to the clear cut #1 seed. Roseau lost 3 section games, but beat Moorhead once. I am shocked that Roseau got the 2, the RECENT loss to to Tech should've taken them out of the running.

Just curious if the guy who usually makes "the board" with all the sections all the way up to the state tournament is doing it again this year? I am sure they are. Can't wait to defend my title with my buddies as we usually fill the whole thing out while placing bets!

I thought Roso was the better team, but based on the season I would have put Brainerd at 2nd.
One coach told me that if Bemidji is healthy they have the best shot.
I am not sure if they are entirely healthy but everyone is playing right now.
My money is on Moorhead.
If Bemidji beats Moorhead in the semis (assuming they both make it), then I am with Bemidji.
Brainerd traveling to Roso will be difficult (assuming they both make it).

One coach told me that Bemidji should be a 5 seed. I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder. Bemidji colored glasses there ...Elliott

You are damn right Brainerd got screwed! There is no justification for this based on the season results. The teams that voted Brainerd the #3 seed have not played them this season, with the exception of Bemidji. Moorhead played both Roseau and Brainerd and their coach ranked Brainerd ahead of Roseau. I guess it doesn't matter what a team accomplishes during the season, a no-name team can't compete with the history of a Roseau, even if they beat them. It's too bad for the kids who earned and deserved to have the opportunity to play the semi's at home.
