I see the Semi-Finals as:
Alexandria vs Willmar and Sartell vs Fergus Falls

The top seeds will make it to the Finals and I will go with Sartell knocking off Alex in an O.T. thriller at the MAC.

Switch LF and Apollo and you got it about right.

Nothing against Willmar, but Detroit Lakes won't lose to the Cardinals at home. I think you see the top four seeds playing in the semifinals in this section.

Detroit Lakes may not play Willmar. If Fergus Falls finishes off the sweep of Willmar, then they could be ruled out for the 3 seed, but as now can't you see that Fergus Falls, Detroit Lakes, or Willmar may be the #3 seed?
Yeah, Fergus Falls beat and tied Detroit Lakes but the Lakers have a good record...yes their schedule sucks but it wouldn't surprise me to see it. Willmar, on the other hand has a nice win over Alexandria and a record comparable to Fergus Falls'.

If everything is right:

1 Alexandria
2 Sartell
3 Fergus Falls has the wins over DL and Willmar
4 Detroit Lakes beat Willmar
5 Willmar unless they beat Fergus, then stuff could go differently

In the end I wouldn't rule Willmar out from getting to the semi's. I wouldn't rule DL, FF, or Willmar out from getting to the finals. I wouldn't rule Sartell out from winning the whole thing. I would guess Alex has the odds, but they are not unbeatable. should be interesting.

I think Alex is obviously the clear cut favorite to take the section, but really its anyones section to win. Alex has lost to Willmar, they beat Fergus twice both games were close though. They also beat Sartell 4-1 a few weeks back. I still see Alex vs Sartell in the finals with Alex winning a nailbiter 4-2 ENG. Hopefully the section final will be as entertaining as last years final, although highly unlikely to match a game like that, but I wouldnt be surprised to see an upset in the Semi's.


The Snake

There is no way the finals will copmpare to last years finals. That had two quality teams playing against each other. Either of those teams could compete at state. I have watched many games in this section and there is not the quality of play as last year. Actually it is poor hockey to watch. I will go with Sartel beating Alex in the finals.

You are right. I forgot that LF and Apollo split. With that said, I am going out on a limb and call for the LF upset of Fergus in the quarters.

I believe Northern Lakes believe it or not may get the 7th and Apollo the 8th. NL beat River Lakes who Apollo lost to twice however NL also lost to a very weak Prairie Center team. Thoughts?

from what ive heard. the section seedings come out today. so the FF and Wilmar game that is on friday wont have an impact on the seedings..

DL does not deserve the 4th seed, Willmar does.

My finals prediction

Sartell-4
Alexandria-2

Sartell's goalie has finally hit a hot streak after having a below average season, perfect timing huh?

First round the way I see it:
St. Cloud Apollo over Morris Benson Area by 2 or 3 goals.

Northern Lakes over Prarie Centre by 3 goals

Little Falls over Wadena by 4 goals

Alexandria shouldn't have troubles with Apollo....but this is the game in the quarter finals if I was to pick a major upset.....

Willmar at Detroit Lakes is likely a very close game. OT is a good possibility. I can easily see Willmar taking this one even in Kent Freeman arena.

Sartell should sail past Northern Lakes and into the semi's

Fergus Falls will play Little Falls at home and it may well be a good game. Fergus has to be favored, but it likely depends on what teams and or goalies show up.

Finals:

Alex -3
Sartell - 1

Really defense? You would even think to take Apollo over Alex?! Reg. season games were 10-3 and 8-0 Alex easy wins. I see Alex winning this section and only having one tough challenge in Sartell.

If we were picking "major upsets".....this is the one I would pick.

But not this match-up....

Apollo beat Morris 9-3 today...they'll get their chance for that upset I guess.

For the record, I never actually picked Apollo to win..... It would be interesting, but not likely....
