7A Next Year??? Denfeld Trojans??

With what is going on with the Duluth school district, do you think the state will move Denfeld into Central's spot in the section? I would think it makes sense.

No transfers to Hermantown unless they physically move there. No open enrollment.mnhockeynemn wrote:That would be pretty strange to have two double A Duluth Schools, it might finally take out the East/Cloquet Rivalry. I bet some of them would play for Marshall though, or transfer to Hermantown.
They wouldn't be in 7AA next year, would they? I would think they'd stay in 5A until the realignment.karl(east) wrote:With the combined enrollment, they'll be forced into 7AA. There will just be one less team in 5A and 7A until they realign things again after next season.
No. 7AA.HShockeywatcher wrote:They wouldn't be in 7AA next year, would they? If they are above the total enrollment cut off, they'd play AA.HShockeywatcher wrote:They wouldn't be in 7AA next year, would they? Oh, ha. Realignment is next year, right? Anything's possible thenTuckerMax93 wrote:If they are above the total enrollment cut off, they'd play AA.HShockeywatcher wrote:They wouldn't be in 7AA next year, would they? Realignment isn't until after next year. When teams undergo huge changes in student body size due to closures/new schools/co-op changes, they move them up or down regardless.HShockeywatcher wrote:Oh, ha. Realignment is next year, right? So, what kind of changes will happen to the school next year? If none happen, why would they make changes? If the schools are still classified as A per their enrollment, why would they move them up?karl(east) wrote:

Denfeld and Central are combining next year. Central is closing, though all the students will be at the Central building next year as they renovate Denfeld.TuckerMax93 wrote:So, what kind of changes will happen to the school next year? I might guess that Central/Denfeld will be AA next year, but once the new East building opens, they'll drop back down. If I understand it correctly, next year they're putting nearly everyone from those two in Central, since there just isn't enough room in the East building for a lot of Central students. After that, who knows? Personally I doubt there would be any mass exodus, especially once the new buildings open up, but it might be enough if it's close...we'll have to wait and see.east hockey wrote:For some reason I thought the realignment was coming up during this off-season until I looked back and saw the really big alignment was before the 2007-08 season, followed by 2009-10, etc.
Still, as you said, there will be a large change in enrollment at Cent/Denf next season. Will it push them to Class AA? With the cutoff at 1,342 students, and the combined enrollments of East, Central and Denfeld at 2,767, it's not a given. It all depends on how evenly (and fairly) the Duluth School Board handles this. And how many students transfer to other schools outside the District. Open enrollment has nothing to do with this part of it. Remember, there are a lot of very irritated parents in the District due to the Red Plan.
In any case, it will be very close.

I'd certainly like to see them in 7AA. For obvious reasons.karl(east) wrote:I might guess that Central/Denfeld will be AA next year, but once the new East building opens, they'll drop back down. Lee, only if we get to see an all-Duluth final at tDECCeast hockey wrote:I'd certainly like to see them in 7AA. 7a used to have only 9 teams so a new team may or may not enter. I think proctor and hermantown are the only options. And if your going to move one do you have to move both? No teams being added to 7a would not be surprising either.Hibbing01 wrote:Thanks for the anwers, but now I must ask, who will fill Centrals spot in 7A? If they fill it at all. I think Proctor or even Hermantown would be nice editions, or both. 5A is the most geographically screwed up section in the state, and I think travel wise it would be beneficial to Hermantown and Proctor to be in 7A, since both are only an hour from the range.
Okay, that makes sense.EHSHack wrote:The way I understand it Karl, is that East and Denfeld will stay once everything is done. Next year whoever it will still be the Denfeld Trojans/ Central Hunters.
