What teams will be there from Districts 10 and 16? I see LF, Brainerd and Moorhead Black will be there from 15.

D16 #2 Crookston
D10 #2 Still in playoffs
D10 #3 Still in playoffs

Blue Division
D16 #1 East Grand Forks American Federal Bank
D15 #2 Brainerd
D10 #1 Still in playoffs
D15 #3 Moorhead Black

D16 - EGF is the regular season and tournament champ. Crookston took the autobid as the tournament host.

D15 - Brainerd beat Moorhead in the second round and Little Falls battled their way up from the #3 East seed to then beat Brainerd for the championship. Moorhead played their way back in through the consolation round.

D10 - In district 10 pool play playoffs will continue through this weekend. As of right now, Sauk Rapids in the American Pool and Elk River in the National pool have the upper hand with 2 wins each with a game to play. Still in the hunt are Blaine and Anoka in the American Pool each with 1 win and a game left to play, and St Cloud Black and Champlin Park in the National pool, also each with 1 win and one game to play.

It is BS that Crookston gets an autobid when they are not a very good team and will get beat quite easily in Regions.

Trust me, you're preaching to the choir. Red Lake Falls lost the most, they battled EGF in the championship game and lost. Any other boys level in D16 sent both teams from the championship game, they just had to play to see who went as #1 and #2.

Crookston's only district win of the year was on the last day of the season. I thought I heard it was their only win of the year, hard to tell as they do not update their website, funny how that happens when a season goes south.

Crookston will struggle to keep games out of running time, not a very good reflection on district 16, but they did the same thing last year with bantams. As Elliott said in another thread, it was hashed over on this site last year. I guess that makes it right.

What would make it right would be if the membership of each D16 association let their representative to the district know how they felt on the issue and then when the issue is brought up at district meetings, my bet would be it would be voted out. But if nobody says anything, the district reps will continue to keep the rule in effect.

Personally, I would like to see the rule go, you want to go to regions, play your way in. If the host has to have it's team in it to be able to get the worker board filled, then pass when you are offered the event if your team is not up to par. This should be bigger than just one team supporting a region tournament, it should be an entire association.

I agree with the other posts, however, you need to ask yourself one question. Why would a below average team that could only manage to win one game in District 16 against a below average Roseau team want to play in Regions?

Neither Crookston Players, Parents or Coaches were given the chance to vote on taking the autobid or playing their way into regions. This choice was made for the team early in the season.

The Red Lake Falls Team that placed 2nd in District 16 should be playing in this tournament.

I can understand that the decision was made before season started but either by knowing the players that would probably make the team and then again as the season unfolded, why not revisit it? My understanding was that as late as the district meeting last Monday, Crookston could have let the district know that they were playing in and making the #2 seed available to the loser of the championship game. Why did they not do this?

Crookston was asked.
They said the team wanted to be in regions.
They were given abit of grief about it, too.

BUT, every year (more than once a year) the District Director brings it up and leaves it to those people representing the D16 associations to change it.
I have gone to district meetings for 20+ years and as yet have not heard anyone speak to changing it.

I fully understand that and I will be lobbying for people in my association to make sure our representative know how we feel. If we have enough voices to change the rule, I hope he brings it up. If not, then it will be status quo. Uncle Tim, work on the folks in your association and I have talked to others in some of the other associations to see how they feel. It is too late to make a difference this year, but for next year and those beyond, I feel the change needs to be made. This is the last I will say on this.

But on a positive note, I wanna say hats off and congratulations to Bagley on hosting a great Pee Wee B District Tournament. There was chatter about this too since they did not have a Pee Wee B team this year and they were hosting but they did a great job putting this tournament on and they were blessed with some great action on the ice. GREAT JOB BAGLEY! Thank you!

Don't forget about the TRF bantams taking the spot in the State VFW tourney they are hosting. 5th seed in the district and they have a ticket punched for the State Tourney.

That's an apples and oranges comparison, the VFW tournament backets are set up for the host of the state tourney to get an autobid, 9 district champions plus the host make a 10 team field. Here are the VFW rules, http://www.vfw.state.mn.us/2010%20Hockey%20Rules.pdf bottom of page 4 shows the district boundries and page 5 has the brackets, no district is doing without because TRF is in. In fact, due to a 10 team field, it looks like the 4th and 6th District teams have the easiest road to the championship.

It also looks like Moorhead is already in the 2011 state tournament and they have not even played a game yet in the 2010-2011 season, they are hosting.

I heard that TRF did not want to be in the district tournament but Bemidji is not going so it sorta forced TRF to play to make it a 8 team event.

Your right crookston probably doesn't belong in a field with these teams but I can tell ya one thing they wont go down with out a fight i doubt all the games will be running time consider east grand forks am fed only beat us by 2

They don't belong, they will go down fighting, and elbowing, and checking from behind, and it would be a MIRACLE if the three pool games are not running time. Some say Little Falls is an "A" team (Don't get confused with Hallock and Red Lake Falls on this one, this D15 will play you out of the building), Elk River is #2 in D10 season standings and #10 in the Let's Play Hockey poll, and Anoka plays their way to the #3 D10 seed over Blaine, Centennial, 2 St Cloud teams, and Champlin Park. Crookston's games will be running time, they'll be lucky if they can keep it under double digits!

Yeah, you only lost to EGF AFB 2-0...Over a month ago! You could play that defense again too, post all 5 of your skaters in the human shield at the top of your crease, aka play 6 goalies at all times.

Its pewee hockey not the nhl dont get to worked up to I am sure the teams will be good but were not going to go out there and just roll over

Trust me, I am far from worked up about the PWB West Region, it is nearly the farthest thing from my mind right now other then the morbid curiosity of how embarassed the rest of D16 is going to be with better teams sitting at home and Crookston taking the free ride. D15 and D10 sent their best. My only hope is that EGF can salvage some respectability for D16. (I do not have a player on the EGF AFB team and am not associated with it)
