Though I do not like private schools, I think having one in would be good for the tournament. It would be odd not hearing the "public schools" chant. Just one man's opinion.

I for a while have thought one class A and one AA private state section representative would be the way to go:
AA private section 8, 2010
Semifinals
Hill Murray vs Cretin
Holy Angels vs Benilde
Finals
Hill Murray
Holy Angels
AA Private section 8 Champion
Hill Murray?

I doubt it, the whole Town of Roseau vs the whole town of............ oh wait, on second thought they would have to recruit some fans.

Are you all talking about this Hill-Murray?
* 2 State independent schools championships - 1970, 1972
* 3 MSHSL State championships - 1983, 1991, 2008
* 6 MSHSL State 2nd place, 2 3rd place, & 2 consolation titles
* 23 section titles and state tournaments in 35 years in the MSHSL
* 33 conference championships in 50 years of hockey.
4 straight Section championships 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009
2006 Hill-Murray 5, White Bear Lake 4, 2 OT
2007 Hill-Murray 3, White Bear Lake 1
2008 Hill-Murray 2, White Bear Lake 1
2006 Hill-Murray 5, Stillwater 4, 2 OT
Now I see why you're all sitting around wondering what the world would be like if only, if only, once, please - Hill-Murray lost to MV, WBL or Stillwater.

that asterisk you posted so many times is a GREAT fit for any accomplishments that any PRIVATE schools have accomplished...
any private school title = yawn...not impressive at all
a title like Roseau, a bunch of home grown kids = what its all about

Do you really believe that it makes a difference to those kids skating around with the championship trophy, the screaming kids in the stands and the cheering parents - whether the school is public or private, small town or big city? I've been there and the answer is no.

The point, apparently, is an arrogant belief that Roseau kids obviously love their school, their teammates and classmates more than Eden Prairie kids and especially more than Hill-Murray kids.

I personally want to see the best teams at State (for the most part). But I wouldn't mind it if Stillwater finally made an appearance.

No, the point is that posting years of accomplishments of teams that recruit and bring players in from all over the state is nothing to brag about these days...
it means nothing
Show me accomplishments of storied programs like Jefferson, Roseau, kids that have grown up together year after year and that have had success..Youth programs that have developed proven winners year after year..
but showing Private schools accolades is just a measure of the "class" they brought in that season...
what Private schools accomplish is great (to themselves) and thats fine...but you trying to compare what they have done to WBL or anyone in their section is just plain stupid..they are not even close to playing on a level playing field.

You missed the point again stpaul. What he meant was that the Roseau kids were rooting for the Roseau High School team when they were kids. The HM kids were rooting for Stillwater, WBL, Woodbury, Roseville, Moundsview, etc., ect. When the HM kids were about to enter the 9th grade, their parents told them they were going to HM. And their response.....I'm going where? Why? I hate you mom and dad!!!!

the ignorance of some people on this forum is unbelievable.
also, what exactly does playing for the youth association of a city have to do with playing for the high school. no one is obligated to play for that high school regardless of what any of you think. And yes, kids do cheer for hill murray when they are elementary school, I watched it happen for 8 years of my life. There are all kinds of private schools that the kids on HM, CDH, AHA go to for elementary school. They have every right to continue their private education. The white bear lake AREA association recruits kids just as much as a private school recruits a kid to go. And if you dont believe that you are lost.
just because a kid feels he will have a better shot progressing in his hockey career going to a private school instead of a public gives you guys no right to assume he was recruited and trash talk him. Kind of sad when adults are trash talking kids on the internet.

What's sad is you think just because a kid is playing at a PRIVATE school he is automatically better then the kids at the public school he left.

It kinda bugs me there is so much bigoted trailer trash on this bored.
If you want to hate Hill because their good, fine. If you want to hate them because their green, even better. But to hate them because kids choose Hill over your school is pathetic.
But I suppose its easier to sit back in your double wide and blame something other than your own misgivings....
