This should be a great game. Centennial has knocked off the Crimson for the past two years, can they make it three?

Wow a pair of barn burners at the coliseum tonight! As much as I love to see the Blaine/Centennial rivalry play out once again, its good to see Maple grove get in the finals. It shows how deep the NWSC is!!

Centennial started out slow in the game and it cost them. Maple Grove quickly went up 2-0, 1 goal a short handed one when the Centennial defenseman fell down while handling the puck.
They were outshot 2-1, but Larsen was great in this game. They finally regrouped but couldn't put one past the Crimson goalie who also played great.

They failed to convert on multiple powerplays, including a short 5-3. Had a lot of point blank chances where they missed the net.

In OT a very questionable too many men on the ice penalty was called on the Cougars, was very very close and in a overtime section semifinal game those calls usually aren't made unless it's blatent which it wasn't. Maple grove scored right as the power play expired.

But they didn't lose cause of that, the slow start killed them. Centennial just cannot get past sections and now they lose a lot of firepower so who knows how they'll be next year. Any up and comers for them?

But hats off to Maple Grove, great game and should be a fun game Friday.

mnhock92, that is too bad the game was "decided" a bit on the OT call. Not to question the officials as they have a very tough job to do. However in OT for high stakes you would rather see any call that is made be an infraction on a clear scoring chance. Bench minor for too many men is a tough one for the Cougar team and coaching staff as that will eat at them. This does not diminish what Maple Grove accomplished, sounds like they came to play in this one which translated into a very nice win for their program.

Was at this game. Would be interested to find out if Cougar bench was warned prior to OT as I noticed too many men on ice during 3rd period a few times and not called. Forwards were coming off bench way too early and those going to bench lolly gaging because they were tired and possibly on too long of a shift.

Does anyone sense a Coliseum curse for Centennial teams that play there?

Good call by those for the upset.

Maple Grove did not have a power play the entire game until that to many men penalty....while Centennial had 4 power plays. The Cougars definitely had their chances to win.

First, Coach Aus = total class handling a tough loss that included his own son. Coach, that's the kind of professionalism everyone should demonstrate.

As for the call itself, I noticed the same thing during the 3rd and while Centennial didn't like it, I got the impression by the lack of complaining they knew they had it coming. Having said that, clearly not the kind of call you want to see in OT.

Great game by two great teams. Love this time of year. =D>

It looked to me like they did protest that call, the assistant coach Karl was irate.....yelled "What!?" really loud and continued to talk to the ref.

Aus is total class, I remember last year when they got beat by Blaine the players weren't going out to shake their hands and Aus yelled at them to get out there and congratulate them.

I'm going to miss watching players like Lovick and Hughes, they were fun to watch.
