Back when I was younger, we used to stay at the Kelly Inn (Also got thrown out of there one year as well). I will always remember that walk across 94.

Best place to eat has to be Cosetta's. Nothing better for between games than the greasy pizza they serve. Quick, cheap and filling!

Best place to get a drink before games: McGovern's (Great atmosphere)

Best place to catch a drink after.... Alary's (Great scenery)

Tom Reid's comes in second for both bar categories!

Best part: watching the 1AA team lose in the first round.

You are ridiculous. Everything you post is so flawed and irrational i cant even begin to think about where you come up with this stuff. I have yet to read a thread where you dont find some way to bash section 1AA. Get a life!

Tom Reid's for a lot of beer, great hockey talk and a little food
Cannot beat Cosetta's Pizza
Hangover food Mickey's Diner for sure. Will get you stepping right the next day.

i have yet to see you not respond to someone bashing section 1aa . You can get a life as well we are all entitled to our opinions

my favorite part of tourney is solid student sections with good organized cheers along with watching private schools and roseau lose and of course section 1aa and 3aa teams losing first round

Yet when i respond to someone bashing section 1AA i defend my argument and give my reasoning. the only reasoning i've seen you give so far is that minnetonka's jv team could win section 1AA #-o

Cosettas, for sure and more then just pizza. lots of good stuff.

Holiday Inn to stay, right across from the X and they have a great pub, little spendy though in the pub.

Eagles nest(loft) across the street as well, very busy bar. Great drink specials.

If you know how?? you can leave between games and catch a quick beer.

McGoverns fun place.

Mickeys, little scarey at times

Alary's, haven't been will check it out.

For those with family, Science Museum is very cool!!

Lots of action on the streets and scalpers.

Spending 4 days watching hockey, people and even section 1AA, whats up with Roseau???

If you stay at the Holiday Inn, park your car and you never have to move it again, been there the last 4 years. Last time with Edina staying and watching them go home early. ):-

I like when a 1AA team scores a goal at the Xcel...it hasn't happened the last few years. It looks like they have been a staple in the 7th place game and only scored one goal at Mariucci. It's just one of those rare moments in sports you try to take in.

Except when Cretin does advance out of the quarters - such as 2006 and 2009?!!

if south / north wins against a good team at state il eat my words but until then 1aa is a joke
this is what i said, i dont need to repediatly explain how weak 1aa is. I just hope they get set up against the #1 seed and get rocked i suggest going to the games because you wont see anyone from 1aa on tv

I go every year, and it's the atmosphere. It's amazing when you see the top players and their team's make it.

I played back in the late 80's and the atmosphere was incredible. I have been going ever since. I wish Channel 4 would get it back. They did so much more of showing the schools and how they got there. Teams made videos for tv. Kind of korny but people remember it.

I have same seats since 2001 and I enjoy seeing the same people around me every year and spending a few days catching up and talking hockey with them. I also enjoy heading to the Iron Range Grill to have dinner before the Championship game and spending quality time with my son doing what we both love most, watching hockey !!

Best part...

The memories that my Dad & I have shared for 36 years of going to the Tourney together, since I was a wee PeeWee... :D

Brotens & Butsy taking on Lauen and the Hornets, the Orange bubbles of the Rapids Indians, the Lecy's taking the stage w/ JM, the Baby Blue dominating for many years w/ Saterdahlen, Hill making its presence known, East/AV OT thriller, and so many other great hockey memories to recant...

Dad & I can't wait for this time of year, and this year is no different! :!:

The fun part is now I have kids, who I share state tourneys with as well.
Thanks Dad! 8)

Old ones: Skipping school, taking a lap around the inside of the Civic Center, cheering for the underdogs, Shamrock Shakes and Filet - o - Fishes on Fridays, Olimb, Gernander, Miracle, Stauber, Decker, Brotens, Pelawa, and all the other great players, clear boards, 6 OT's and doing the wave, mini-donus, not getting home until after midnight on a weekday, wearing my letter jacket as a junior and senior, getting dropped off and picked up and being with my friends all day, chasing girls!

New ones: Skipping school (as a teacher now!), texting all my buds (I'm 37, but it's easier than calling)and seeing them between periods, explaining to my wife why this is the best 3 days of the year, going to Wild Tymes, McGovern's, and the Liffey, cheering for the underdogs, watching games in a great arena, seeing great teams and players.

Some things have changed, others haven't, but I still look forward to the tournament every year!

These two must sit around and think about ways they can trash 1AA. They add nothing to this board and when they are put in their place, they just move onto another thread to spew their ignorance. These guys were JV players at best and like to cut down others to make themselves feel good. Well Bravo you clowns. Keep coming up with your brilliant posts. You are proving to everyone how pathetic you are! Now back to the topic at hand, great things about the state tournament.

Have you ever thought for one second that the only reason we're doing this is because we're seeing how much it's pissing you off? You seriously need to relax dude, it's a message board, people have opinions and you don't have to blow up everytime someone says 1AA sucks (it does). You and dangling are the only ones that seem to take major offense to everything we say. Your posts wreak so much irony I don't even want to get in to it. We'll see who gets put in their place once we see how 1AA does at state.

I teach 4th graders that are more mature than these three girls (Roseauverrated, Curtiscurve, and Danglingsnipen 15) who keep going back and forth. If you three want to actually meet during the tournament and duke it out behind the mini donut stand in between periods of the 1AA game (which will surely be a blowout), that's cool, but trying to get through your lame posts to the ones that are actually worth reading is getting old.

jv players at best? now your going farther than just saying you dont like my opinion your going to personal attacks when you know nothing about me... talking about adding some intelligence to this board

my team by the way just destroyed the (former) second best team left in state what do you think they will do to your 1aa team?

this right here (people going nuts because their section sucks) is one of my favorite parts about the state tournament and yes it makes me feel good that you care soo much

I am a little confused SE. In the 1AA championship thread, you gave it to Roseauoverrated as well. I am trying to contribute meaningful thoughts to these threads, just check my first post on this thread for example. Just sick of the same old bashing of 1AA. Sorry to have offended you!
