SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired a second-round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft from the Washington Capitals in exchange for center Eric Belanger.

Belanger, 32 (12/16/77), has posted 35 points (13-22=35) in 60 games this season, while ranking seventh in the NHL with a 57.6 faceoff percentage. The 5-foot-11, 187-pound native of Sherbrooke, Quebec, has recorded 293 points (119-174=293) in 617 NHL games in nine NHL seasons with Los Angeles, Carolina, Atlanta and Minnesota.

No they are not done. This was just a move to make some cap room and get what they can for a guy they weren't going to resign anyway. We won't really know for sure how this trade turns out until we see who we drafted and who we signed in Free agency. By the way, heard rumors that the Wild have high chances of signing Minnesota native Peter Mueller next season. Would be a great addition.

Mueller - next year?

So you also think they are done this year. They are not that far behind the wingers and preds, but ...

Second round draft pick can certainly be a big help --- in a couple seasons? especially coming from the Caps it will be a late one.

Looking at some of the stats

2009-2010 YTD G/G are 2.76 (12th) and GA/G are 2.81 (t-18th)
2008-2009 G/G were 2.61 (22nd) and GA/G were 2.4 (2nd)

All that said, maybe the best trade is to trade the whole team to the Eastern Conference
