Spuds had a great year... They continue to play one of the toughest schedules in the 'State', year in and year out.

It's never easy, but I echo the sentiments. Great and proud program up there.

They will always be a top team because of their challenging schedule and their great feeder program. Those who are sick of seeing them year in and year out in the section finals and state, you better get used to them because they are not going anywhere.

It's either the Rams or Spuds every year in 8AA, last year Moorhead went so its Roseau's turn this year.

roseau's screwed. moorhead can actually skate with metro teams because of that tough schedlue. roseau only had so few tough games this year you can count those games on one hand. Roseau at state = 2 and done

With only one line I think you are correct, they will get destroyed. Moorhead did not fair to well against the good metro teams this year. 4- 1 loss to Jefferson. 6 - 0 loss to Wayzata. 5-1 loss to Minnetonka. 5 -2 loss to BSM. 6 - 2 loss to Centennial. 6 - 3 loss to Jefferson. The North is way, way down in hockey development it is not even close in comparison any longer and getting worse with each passing season.

moorhead did beat benilde but that doesn't change much i guess. but it gives them a look at what they would have to expect if they went to state. roseau won't know whats coming at em

On the other hand, it is the state tourny and anything could happen. Example, Grand Rapids vs Edina in a quarterfinal game a few years ago.

Roseau will participate in the State Tournament and Moorhead will not. That's the bottom line. Runners-up again. Good luck next season Spuds!!

simple fact moorhead has one chance togo to state in the next four years and thats next year only. so get ready for a loooooong drought in spudville.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong here. Roseau beat Moorhead 2 out of 3 games this year...right???? Including the last one??? And this would be the same Moorhead team that "can skate with the metro teams"???????

ya its the same moorhead team that lost too all the metro teams and its clear to me how much that tuff schedule improved the team through out the season as they not only lost to the rams but watching the game i was never worried that roseau would loose. they (ROSEAU) clearly controled the play pretty much the whole game. MOORHEAD better call fargo and beg for serious renforcements because section 8 is gona get ram fugley real soon.

someone get this Roseau fan boy out of here. The spuds dominated most of the game. If it wasn't for that fluke goal at the beginning of the game things would have been different. Plus Ethan got some lucky saves including the one that bounced through his legs and somehow he got his glove on it behind his back.

I think "the dog" is correct. Next year, the Spuds will probably beat up on the Sheep (that is, unless Lundbohm, Broten, and Erickson can somehow engineer a miracle...) But I think the Sheep will have the upper hand for about 3 years after that. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Regardless, let's hope the Rams can represent section 8 this year as well as the Spuds did last year! (I don't even dare to imagine them doing better.) 8)

I have watched both Roseau and Moorhead programs over the last several years. Both have good programs. One thing I would like to comment on Roseau though--don't ever count them out. I was at the Roseau-Moorhead game the other nite and Roseau carried the best of the play for most of the game. The shots on net were 30 to 26 give or take 1 stop in Roseau's favor. And I don't have a dog in this fight! Roseau seems to go down and win the big tourney approx. every 10 years (1990, 1999, and 2007 are the most recent ones) Not bad for a school with 350 kids who develop their own players and have fantastic support from their small community. I would guess that a great majority of the so called city powers would be happy to win the big one every 8-10 years. Yes Moorhead has a good program but Roseau will always be competitive with them because they do things the right way and for some reason always seem to have young players from the community that have gone on and played college hockey come back and raise their familys there and give back to the program. (must be the fishing and hunting) Look back at the programs over the last many years and you will see where the dynasty has been in Section 8. I see 7 state championship banners hanging in Roseau's rink and none hanging in Moorheads. State Championships are hard to win and you have to be good and somewhat lucky at the same time!

They were better on 2 nites out of three. If they were "that much better", they should've won all 3. Both have scored 8 goals on the other this year. Think you're hallucinating.

It even got harder when White Bear came off the schedule this year. Seemed like a "gimme" for the Spuds every year.

Which game are you talking about? The 2nd one mid - season? Then yes, I will agree the Spuds dominated that one
